Having read the reviews, I expected to struggle with this product, but it does work, and with XP SP2 and the Sony Ericsson K300i, also purchased via Amazon. The basic software for connecting was OK from the vendor I used, but the secret to making this cable work well may be in the Sony Ericsson file manager that can be downloaded free from their site. Beware - this USB cable is not compatible with Mac or Windows XP. Itwould be nice to have that XP compatibility (like the included softwarehas), but alas - your cable will cause the sync to crash on WindowsXP.
Very frustrating, especially if you purchased it through SonyEricsson directly and their lovely "30 days if unopened" returnpolicy.

this is a fantastic cable. the trick is to download the file manager from the sony ericsson website. once you have your cable, plug one entd to youre phone & the other end to your p.c, then go to control panel,go to system, select device manager, find the usb-DCU11 cable, go on properties, select driver, click update driver.

Does what it is supposed to do. I followed other users' recommendations and downloaded the appropriate software from the sony ericsson website.

It's shocking how bad the software is for this...
I thought it was a great idea but did not get the software to work on Windows XP. The same problem every time: Every time I downloaded it InstallShield froze at the end. Read more
