I returned this item because of excessive noise from the motor on the video recording and found less noise with just the standard microphone on my Sony HDR-HC3.

disappointing am afraid, although it does pick up sound quite well, it also brings with it a noteable electronic buzz, meaning that every time you film and edit, you will need to do extra "cleaning" on your audio track with a relevant software. i think i was better off with my video camera's inbuilt microphone.

This is actually a great bit of kit that I use to record small ensembles with and the results are very good. It's a shame that you have to buy this though as with my previous sony camcorders i've plugged in high quality stereo mics so was a little miffed that I had no choice but to get this one but luckily it's pretty good!

Better than the on board microphone
This is probably the only and therefore the best microphone that you can get for Sony camcorders, unless it is a model equipped to take independent microphones. Read more

Sony's priciest mic for small handycams
This device is designed work with cameras with a "shoe". You cannot connect this accessory to a mic entrance so don't bother looking if you have only such option. Read more
