This DVD player is proof for me that Sony are back at the top of their game.

Slim, stylish and well laid out, this is a classy looking machine although there is a little hint of similar Philips machines about the reflective front fascia. Unlike some reviewers here I like the look and feel of the remote, it will also control the basics on many makes of TV.

With a good HDMI cable this DVD player delivers superb upscaled DVD quality to my HD LCD TV. This has a dramatic effect on recent DVD releases but also (surprisingly for me) old BBC DVDs such as Blakes 7!

This player I can confirm IS multiregion capable. That does not mean that it is Multiregion already when you buy it from Amazon, it means that it is possible to make it multiregion by entering a code with a remote control. I have a One For All remote and used that to run the hack that is listed here on Amazon.co.uk and it worked perfectly, so within 1 hour of it arriving from Amazon I had made it multiregion. Please do take note of this as 'multiregion capable' could be misleading.

Recommended.

I have just purchased this DVD player to go with my new LCD TV, I have the Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000 (1920x1080 full HD).

What can I say other than WOW! After unpacking the player, I first set the DVD player to 1080i connected via HDMI, set the screen display on the TV to full pixel 1:1 mapping Inserted iRobot and sat back to watch.

The clarity of the picture was just stunning, i'd say v.close to the quailty of movies showing on SKY HD movie channels. But not as good as those from a friends PS3 (Blu-ray movie in True HD 1080p) still for £90 you can't go wrong and this will increase your enjoyment of your existing DVD collection for many years to come.

Outstanding! 10/10

To all those that are considering buying the next gen DVD players. Just hold on a little longer. Prices are still way too high. Tho that is to be expected with it being the NEW technology.

I have just bought a new Sony LCD and using my old DVD player i wasn't able to take advantage of the Full 720p/1080i capabilities. This player fell within my budget and for the price that this DVD player is at i can tell you its the best deal i have had for quite some time. The Quality difference between my old Panasonic player and this new one is huge. I watched Children of Men on the player last night and it was crisp, clear and provided fantastic audio also.

HDMI is indeed the new replacement for Scart. It's the first time i have ever used the port and i find it an absolute delight. Picture and Sound looking clearer and sharper than any scart or component could possibly be capable of.

Reading a lot of the reviews on this product i'm not on my own with being happy with the purchase. Spend the money on this and wait a few more years for next gen to really kick in!
