This camera is astonishing.
Took brilliantly clear HD video clips on a skiing holiday that were better than those taken with a friend's camcorder - with stereo sound!
Still pictures were clear, rich, and sharp.
Touchscreen is amazingly easy to operate.
Starts fast and flash recycles very very quickly.
Panorama function is a great little function too.

Colour Name:Silver
Packed with features in abundance, in a very pocketable superbly built case, as well as precision Sony/Zeiss optical quality, this instrument is hard to flaw.
Impressed by the image quality, size and its overall performance, I bought a second one as a birthday present for my daughter, who is inclined to reject any photo-gear, however excellent, if it is incompatible with available accommodation in her somewhat overcrowded handbag!
Initially not so sold on touch screen - but am gradually getting used to it and accept it (even like it!).
Its compatibility with SD/SDHC cards(which, understandably, Sony prefer not to shout about), in addition to Memory Sticks, is a definite bonus.
Sample test shots ('Proof of the Pudding!) on 'Customer Images', if interested.
6th May. - Since writing the above review, my daughter has returned from a holiday in Spain with 200 plus images taken with her TX7 under varying lighting (extremely contrasting back-light)/moving subjects, conditions and one can only be amazed at this camera's performance especially relative to its compactness. Outstanding modes: Panorama and Handheld Twilight. NO negative aspects to complain about.
In my limited experience, images from this camera require the bare minimum post processing as compared to my other compacts.

It is so small that it slips into the smallest pocket, so you can always have it with you, but the slide up lens cover protects it. Video is easy and good, picture quality fantastic and of course the real gem is the automatic panorama, which is so much better than the putting a series of photos together that other cameras offer. It does use a fair amount of battery power compared to my wife's Olympus (which uses the same size battery)so I recommend buying a spare - which is a little expensive. The touch screen is super- much better than navigating a menu and having to press an OK button, I also find the usb dock good.
