The Cyber-shot T70 complements exquisite HD imaging quality with exciting innovations like the new Smile Shutter as well as a clear, wide, extra large touchscreen.

Cyber-shot T70

Innovative Design with Touchscreen LCD

Innovative Design with Touchscreen LCD

The slim design DSCT70 incorporates a 3 inch touch-sensitive LCD screen for viewing images and has full control over the camera functions.
Clear Photo LCD Plus technology ensures superb clarity and colour reproduction, and an anti-reflective AR coating on the LCD screen, maximises contrast and visibility even when shooting outdoors in bright conditions. The screen’s wide 16:9 aspect ratio offers ideal proportions for viewing images on any connected
HD Ready television.
Tapping any point on the screen immediately locks focus on that part of the image, while touching a face on screen turns on Face Detection. During playback, a brief touch anywhere on screen zooms in on that part of the image for quick checking.

Megapixels

Megapixels

Digital photos are made up of dots of coloured light called pixels (picture element). To make a photo requires millions of pixels (Megapixels). The more Megapixels a camera has, the smoother and clearer the photos will be. So, crisp, clear images are assured courtesy of the 8.1 effective Megapixel sensor and Real Imaging Processor.

Double Anti-Blur

Double Anti-Blur

Sony’s Double Anti-blur solution teams Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 3200. This reduces the chances of spoiled pictures while shooting handheld indoors or at dusk without flash. Sony Clear RAW NR processing reduces colour noise and luminance noise for more natural pictures at high sensitivity settings.

Zoom

Zoooom

The high quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens gives a powerful 3x optical zoom – great for pulling distant subjects in closer.

New Smile Shutter function

New Smile Shutter function

This enables the camera to automatically react to a smile – a first for digital photography.
This auto shutter system is capable of identifying when someone smiles and will immediately take a shot without you needing to press the shutter - bringing more fun to informal portraits, family shots and other ‘people pictures’. If there are several people in the frame, the shutter only fires when the main subject –
selected using the touchscreen – smiles. A sequence of up to six smiling shots can be taken without needing to manually press the shutter. So you can always have pictures of children or adults looking happy in every shot!

Face Detection Technology

Face Detection Technology

The easy-to-use Face Detection capability helps photographers of all abilities capture great-looking ‘people pictures’ without the risk of spoiled shots. Face Detection automatically adjusts exposure, flash and other settings. Enhanced autofocus performance and advanced eye detection ensure beautifully sharp portraits with natural skin tones – even at high zoom settings, in low light or with moving subjects.
Touching a face on the LCD screen of the camera turns on Face Detection, what could be easier?

Photo TV HD Full HD image display

Photo TV HD Full HD image display

It’s easy to enjoy the finest quality High Definition images captured with the T200 on a BRAVIA or HD Ready display (HD output adapter cable required) so you can share your images with friends and family. Music can accompany the slideshows for an extra dimension of enjoyment to your photos. Just pick from four visual effects (Simple, Nostalgic, Active and Stylish) and four preset musical accompaniments – then watch the show onscreen with HDTV image quality. The slideshows can be personalised further with MP3 background music tracks imported from a PC.

5.0 out of 5 stars I lIked It, 3 Dec 2007
By Rufuszulu (West London, England) - See all my reviews
I have an earlier 5.1MP slim camera and got T70 as a replacement in September. A noticeable improvement was steadyshot, as blurred photos were always a problem with the earlier model. Another good feature is the auto speed of the camera and its ability to shoot in low light levels, without flash, that I wouldn't have considered with its predecessor. The bigger LCD is great, but I found it somewhat fiddly changing settings. All in all, I liked it and am very happy with it

1.0 out of 5 stars Style over substance - avoid at all costs! Very poor image quality, 29 Dec 2007
By T. Peters (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is by far the worst digital compact I have had the misfortune to use, avoid it at all costs if you want to be able to take good photos with a point-and-click digital compact!

I purchased this camera as a Christmas present for my girlfriend as it is small ("handbag friendly) and appears to possess some good features (image stabilisation, face detection etc) in addition to being 8.1MP.

To give Sony some credit, the camera does have a good solid feel and the LCD screen presented crisp images. However, it was only after my girlfriend uploaded the photos she had taken on Christmas day that I realised how poor the image quality actually is. All the pictures came out with a foggy haze over them. Each image also had a lot of "noise" and in low light conditions the pictures were appalling. Comparing the photos that had been taken by an Ixus 750 I realised how bad the images actually were. I use a 40D SLR as my main camera so know a bit about playing around with camera settings, and even when I changed the ISO and flash settings on this camera the pictures still came out far worse than the lower MP Ixus.

My suspicion is that to get the style (and price) of this camera right Sony have sacrificed the quality of the image sensors and compressors, leading to poor image reproduction. This is a real shame as it has the potential to be a nice little camera.

If you value the quality of your pictures look elsewhere (the Ixus range is great)

5.0 out of 5 stars Super fast shutter, 18 Dec 2007
By Andrew Hunt "andrewhunt8" (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Picture quality on this type of camera doesn't vary much between equivalent modeld of different brands - you get what you pay for.

Shutter speed (or rather shutter lag) differs greatly and this camera is very quick - about .18 seconds for a single shot. Compare this with the IXUS models which vary from 0.38 to 0.45. It doesn't sound like much but it's often the difference between capturing what your trying to photograph and missing it.

Menu etc. is OK - not totally intuitive but not that hard. Switching from stills to video is a bit fiddly. Touch screen works fine, even with my fat fingers.

Only complaint is the lense is in the top left corner and it;s very easy to poke your finger across the lense - but with the large screen you'll notice it straight away.
Worth 5 stars just for being fast.
