High performance imaging is what Cyber-shot HX cameras are all about. The HX7V is no exception with a high sensitivity 16.2 megapixel Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor for shooting intensely detailed, high resolution images. Press the shutter and shoot at an incredible 10 frames per second or freeze the action with a high-speed burst of images. Developed exclusively by Sony, the Exmor R™ CMOS sensor absorbs twice as much light as a conventional sensor giving you low-noise pictures that stay perfectly defined even in poor conditions. So if you want to shoot at twilight while the sun is setting over the sea or indoors without using a flash, that’s no problem.

Big screen viewing

Flip the HX7V round and you'll find a large, extremely high quality 3" XtraFine TruBlack LCD screen, (921k dot) offering excellent detail, high contrast and wide viewing angle. Framing shots is really easy on screen with everything crystal clear in fine detail and high contrast. Touch the screen to access a range of modes and settings or review your shots with friends. Scroll through latest compositions by sliding your finger across the screen – nothing could be simpler.

3D – the new dimension

The sophisticated HX7V gives you the opportunity to discover an incredible new dimension in imaging. Shoot 3D still photos at the touch of a button for playback on your 3D TV. Just press the shutter and the camera will shoot two successive frames, then automatically create a single 3D image from them. You can also capture stunning landscapes and cityscapes in panoramic 3D with Intelligent 3D Sweep Panorama. Simply press the shutter while sweeping the camera from side to side or up and down to shoot a high-speed burst of frames. Images are then automatically stitched together to create one amazing panoramic picture at a high resolution of 42.9 megapixels. Sweep Multi Angle creates amazing 3D-like views so you can view your subject from different angles by tilting the camera screen. When you’re done, sit back and enjoy 3D shots on your 3D HD TV or zoom in with PlayStation®3.

Shoot in Full HD 1080p

Cyber-shot™ HX7V is all you need when heading out into the great outdoors. On board are excellent movie features for capturing special video moments. Simply press the Movie icon on the touchscreen to shoot ultra-sharp and lifelike movies in Full HD 1080i. Efficient AVCHD video compression technology optimises file size for easy storage and sharing on your PC. Sound quality is impressive too with stereo recorded at 30 frames per second to bring out all the atmosphere. Relive the excitement by watching your movies on your HD TV using the camera's multiple HD output options.

So easy with Superior Auto

Time is of the essence when shooting action or capturing special family moments. Superior Auto mode takes the stress out of selecting perfect camera settings to suit the scene by adjusting exposure and other camera settings automatically. You’ll get DSLR-like quality with low noise and high dynamic range for a wide range of shooting situations.

Impressive background effects

If high contrast is causing washed-out backgrounds and detail lost in shadow, switch to Backlight Correction HDR. The HX7V will take two images at different exposure settings then combine the best elements of each into one natural-looking image. Plus with Background Defocus, you can create professional-looking images with a razor-sharp foreground subject against a smoothly blurred background.

Natural portraits

Face Detection automatically adjusts the exposure, focus and skin tone of your shot so the photos you take of your friends and family look more natural. Soft Skin mode uses this Face Detection technology to automatically soften wrinkles and freckles, as well as adding definition to the eyes and mouth - perfect for individual or group portraits. Smile Shutter is another handy feature that when activated, automatically takes pictures when people smile.

Upload memories to your favourite social networking website with just a few clicks of the mouse. PMB (Picture Motion Browser) Portable software lets you select and transfer photos or video clips to any web-connected PC.
