This camera is awesome. The 2.5" lcd is worth any extra money you pay for viewing and reliving moments. It is well built, feels expensive and the battery life is very impressive. It does have a tendancy to pick up finger prints as it isn't that easy to handle at first, and the silver line around the edge is quite frankly a poor feature as it picks up finger prints in no time. Keeping a cloth handy is recommended just to keep it in tip-top condition.

The pictures are very good and make excellent backgrounds for your pc at 1280 resolution! Videos are also good with fine and standard modes. On a 256mb card you can get about 7 mins of video at standard.

The optical zoom is handy and does make a big difference compared to just having digi zoom. It can't be changed while videoing which is quite unfortunate.

Theres about a million different modes for taking pictures that can produce some really cool effects. But mostly are preset settings for different lights and pictures. For enthusiastic photographers there are quite a few different settings to play with to get disired light levels etc. but the point and shoot mode is v. good with a fast auto-focus (focus can be on single and monitor modes which are handy in different situations) Buttons are well placed for easy usage and the quick review button is very handy.

The startup time is reasonable (not as good as the cannon isus 40) but still slow enough to make you miss some great shots here and there.

In my opinion 4.1 mega pixels is sufficient for the average user and produces big pics. When you get 7mp the are just unecesicarily big and take up memory card space much faster!

Good but not perfect 10 Jun 2005
I bought this camera a few weeks ago, after my wife lost our Canon Powershot A60 on the undeground! I chose Sony over Canon this time, because of the attractive price at Amazon and the good-looking features. What impressed me most were the huge 2.5" screen and the movie mode. I've been using it for the last couple of weeks and I found that the video quality is not as good as my old Canon. Picture quality and everything else are perfect, but the videos are not smooth and you can see the squares forming as you film a moving object. Since the movie mode was one of the most important features for me, I was rather disappointed. If you want to take nice photos, then you'll be very pleased with this Sony. But I still can't help feeling that I might have been better off buying the Canon Ixus 40?!

ok thingy 12 Dec 2009
everyone has moved on so much since i bought this one; it got ruined when it fell from my hands, the lens got stuck without coming out when i switched it on; never bothered to have it repaired; just moved on;
pictures were ok, nothing major commendable, especially now that i have seen what newer cameras can do;
lightweight; and handy
