The amazing functions and design make you think that somy have really thought about what makes a good camera and put it into the FX77.
At first it seem complicated to use, but you can leave it on one setting and just snap away. Down loading is just as simple via the cradle provided. The swivel lens is so cool and useful, and smart zoom is amazing. Movie facility is great and file sizes are not necessarily too big.
I recommend that a larger memory stick is purchased and you take time in learning all the different funtions of this camera.
I have used the bluetooth fuctionality yet but thats my next point of exporation. This camera is cutting edge produces amazing photos. The best buy in its class by far.
The picture quaility is superb but I was disappointed by the length of time it takes to actually take a photograph in low light conditions. It can take up to two seconds. It's worth being aware of this as you can miss your subjects if they move!
The supplied cradle is very useful as it helps eliminate clutter from your computer desk and it provides a very simple interface to your PC if you don't have a memory stick reader. Trasferring photographs only takes a couple of seconds using the USB.
Bluetooth operation was very straight forward using my Sony Vaio. You do need devices that are BIP (Basic Imaging Profile) compatiable, but I think most Bluetooth 1.1. devices are. My photos (size ~= 1.7Mb) take about 20 to 30 seconds to transfer via bluetooth. Mobile phones will soon support BIP so you could transfer pictures and then use MMS to send them to your friends.
Overall, I'm very impressed by this digital camera. It boasts fastest startup time, less than one second, which I found useful for those "Kodak Moments". It's very easy to use and even easier after you read the instruction manual. I have yet to try the movie feature but I don't really see any use for that. The supplied 16 Mb stick will hold about 10 pictures at full quaility so you will probably need to purchase another one or two at either 64Mb or 128Mb. It takes Memory Stick PRO so you could get a 512MB or 1Gb stick! These are expensive but you can take pictures until the cows come home. A second battery is a useful addition also.
All-in-all an excellent buy for gadget hunters such as myself. For the more basic user, I would suggest looking at the Sony DSC-P12, which is a 5 mega pixel camera. It doesn't have bluetooth but it does come with a second battery included.
