This is an easy to use DVD camcorder. Excellent movie picture quality. The still pics are good also. The DVDs are 8cm and can be played on your DVD player - in case your wondering it's the smaller ring on the dvd loading tray! Which makes using this camcorer so convenient. It saves messing around with formats.
DVD's are about £20 for 3 re-writable sony discs which is reasonable, you can also get cheaper non sony brands also. Movies/pics can be downloaded to PC, the connecting lead is included. Before you can play back on dvd you need to finalise the disc which takes a couple of mins, but again this is easy to do!
The only thing you'd probably also need to buy (apart from blank discs, but you get one free with the camcorder) is a carry case.
Overall it's a great camcorder, easy to use and does the basics well and worth buying.

The Sony Handycam DCR DVD203 is a brilliant choice for the first time user. It boasts a load of features that will make the shooting and editing of home movies a joy to use. I`ve been using one now since they first came out and the camera has performed faultlessly - even with non-standard Sony discs. The picture quality is smooth and the pixel resolution high, making for a rich and professional looking film. You can extend the life of the disc by switching to long play and those of you who find a use for it will find the nightshot feature a real laugh - everyone looks like the team on Most Haunted on it!! The tv advert did say that you could shoot footage and then play it directly back on your DVD player, and showed the girl in the film doing this. However - if she did she would get nothing. As stated above, you do need to finalise all your discs before playing back on a DVD player. I would also recommend purchasing the excellent MAGIX Movie edit pro software to enhance your films with. I have been using it to achieve some very credible and professional looking movies. Overall, the Sony Handycam DCR DVD203 is fantastic value and certainly highly recommended, even to the novice!

WORST PURCHASE EVER BY FAR!!
Bought this camcorder to film my 3 children growing up, so i have the picture quality set to HQ (high quality) because i want them to be as clear as possible. Read more
