Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The W210 gives you incredible technology in an easy to use package. Its features include 12.1 megapixel resolution, a large 2.7" LCD screen, a 30mm wide angle lens, a 4 x optical zoom, and some of the most innovative and exciting photographic technology available from Sony. You can look forward to the power of a BIONZ processor, Intelligent Scene Recognition and Enhanced Face Detection. The W210 is ideal for those who want to take their photography to the next level.

The power to catch every scene
The W210 contains the powerful BIONZ processor, which enhances image quality by handling large amounts of digital information at high speed. This reduces image noise and enables a faster shooting response. It is also fitted with Vario–Tessar lenses made by Carl Zeiss, the world renowned optical specialists. These premium lenses are highly rated by photographers for their colour precision, superb contrast and extremely low distortion levels at all focal lengths. The huge 12.1 effective mega–pixel resolution gives you the capability to make high quality images which maintain detail even when enlarged. The W210 also has a 30mm wide angle lens to allow you to make the most of panoramic scenes as well as indoor scenes featuring groups in tight spaces.

Face Detection finds and enhances faces in complex scenes

Face Detection finds and enhances
faces in complex scenes View larger

Enhanced Face Detection helps you keep your portraits in focus
Face Detection is very handy for shooting larger groups and scenes where faces might get lost against a detailed background. The sensor recognises faces as faces and automatically adjusts the exposure, white balance and flash settings to show skin tones at their best. Up to 8 faces can be recognised in any scene and you can even set priority for children or adults.

Intelligent Scene Recognition lets you concentrate on the subject
This simplifies shooting by automatically choosing the best settings for your shot from Portrait, Macro, Landscape, Twilight, Portrait, Backlight Portrait and Backlight. This is particularly useful when you don’t have time to set your camera manually in awkward lighting conditions. The Anti–Blink mode prevents closed eyes spoiling otherwise good compositions.

High sensitivity sensor for low light
Look forward to stunning images taken even when the natural light is not at its best. The BIONZ sensor on the W210 is calibrated to a high ISO of 3200, making it highly sensitive to any light available. Higher sensitivity enables faster shutter speed and so also reduces the blur on images, even in low light conditions. This works with the W210’s SteadyShot function to keep your handheld shooting crisp and clear.

Enhanced Smile Shutter captures every smile
Flip a button on the T900 and you’re holding mini–camcorder. The T900 records clips at 30 frames per second and 720p HD resolution, and records sound in stereo. Shooting with 4x optical zoom power and high sensitivity sensor means your video clips will be as crisp and clear as your still images.

Retouch shots on the move
If you can want to improve your shot right there and then, you can even perform simple retouching operations in camera without needing to download the image to your PC — such as cropping, altering exposure or removing red–eye. You can also make the most of the W210’s 2.7" Clear Photo LCD screen by using it for playback as well as scene composition. It’s big enough to be viewed by more than one person, and the camera even allows you to add a music soundtrack and other fun effects so you can put on a real slideshow. Back at home, the W210 has an HD output too to allow you to show your still images at their best on an HD TV screen (optional cable required).

It’s easy to track down photos with landscapes, people or smiles, thanks to PMB (Picture Motion Browser) software

PMB (Picture Motion Browser) software
Managing your growing photo collection is hugely simplified by this software which comes free with the W210. Just install it on your PC and it provides a perfect archive for your shots which are all just a click or two away. You can arrange them by date, by person, and even search through them quickly. From here you can burn them to discs, send them to friends or upload them to sites in a matter of seconds.

Worth every penny. 1 July 2009
This is the second SONY Cyber-shot camera that I`ve owned. The first one was the DSC-W55 purchased two years ago which was also an excellent camera and worked really well for me. On a trip to New Zealand in February I took nearly a thousand superb photoraphs on two memory cards but then unfortunately the selection dial for the various functions started to play up so I decided to replace it.The new camera is even better as this has 12.1 Mega Pixels. It`s a very easy to use quality camera which gives excellent results.Another big selling point for me with each camera has been the batteries. A rechargable LITHIUM ION NP-BG1.These batteries last for a VERY long time before they need re-charging and then they are quickly charged again up in a couple of hours.

After spending days over reviews, I bought a Panasonic Lumix, got home, tried it and wanted to cry. I returned it to the shop for another the same make and still disappointed. Returned again and bought the cheaper cybershot. Compared images i took in the shop on a HUGE tv. The assistant was shocked at how much better the quality and sharpness was on the cybershot having previously advised me to buy the lumix!!! This is the best camera i have ever had. Cannot believe the quality for the money. Of course, i am an amateur however it meets all my needs.

Point and Shoot! 31 Dec 2009
I purchased this camera as an alternative to my big bulky digital Panasonic SLR camera which is also a very good camera......in the right hands! This is why I wanted simple, easy to use camera which I could slip in my pocket out on holidays/wedding etc. I had been expecting a lot from this camera as my sister had a few models down which she purchased a few years back. She some how always managed to produce the same, if not better and more consistent quality pictures than my SLR (wrong hands!).

This camera has excelled and produced fantastic pictures! There are a lot of functions but if you're anything like me and just want to point and shoot then this is the camera as it does everything for you. You do need to switch between a few preset modes but that's easy to figure out. I have so far used it on a beech holiday and two family weddings and it hasn't disappointed. The guests loved my pictures so much that I was practically promoted to the unofficial photographer on the 2nd wedding; it's either that or I am not very photogenic???
