The T90 camera is easy on the eye in every sense. Not only does it have a large 3.0" touchscreen for simple operation and spectacular playback, it also stands out from the crowd with its slick lines, ultra slim styling and choice of chic colours. On top of that it offers some serious photographic capability, boasting 12.1 megapixels resolution, and advanced Sony features such as Smile Shutter and Intelligent Scene Recognition.
The power to catch every scene
The T90 contains the powerful BIONZ processor, which enhances image quality by handling large amounts of digital information at high speed. This reduces image noise and enables a faster shooting response. It is also fitted with Vario–Tessar lenses made by Carl Zeiss, the world renowned optical specialists. These premium lenses are highly rated by photographers for their colour precision, superb contrast and extremely low distortion levels at all focal lengths. Add to this a huge 12.1 effective mega–pixel resolution and 4 x optical zoom, and the T900 gives you the capability to make extremely high quality images which maintain detail even when enlarged.

Extra large touchscreen
At 3.0" and 230k dot resolution, the touchscreen on the T90 is big enough to make details and colours easily visible, even from wider angles. It is boosted by pin sharp Xtra Fine technology to make sure you can view your scenes accurately and enjoy playback to the full.
720p HD movie recording at the flip of a switch
Flip a button on the T90 and you’re holding mini–camcorder. The T90 records clips at 30 frames per second and 720p HD resolution, and records sound in stereo. Shooting with 4x optical zoom power and high sensitivity sensor means your video clips will be as crisp and clear as your still images.
Intelligent Scene Recognition lets you concentrate on the subject
This simplifies shooting by automatically choosing the best settings for your shot from Portrait, Macro, Landscape, Twilight, Portrait, Backlight Portrait and Backlight. You’ll find this useful when you don’t have time to set your camera manually, particularly in awkward lighting conditions like twilight. Advanced mode takes two quick shots at slightly different settings so you can choose the one that works best. The Anti–Blink mode also prevents closed eyes spoiling an otherwise good composition.
Enhanced Face Detection helps you keep your portraits in focus
Face Detection is very handy for shooting larger groups and scenes where faces might get lost against a detailed background. The sensor recognises faces as faces and automatically adjusts the exposure, white balance and flash settings to show skin tones at their best. Up to 8 faces can be recognised in any scene and you can even set priority for children or adults.
Press the icon and Smile Shutter makes
catching smiles easy View larger
Enhanced Smile Shutter captures every smile
Ever had a portrait or party scene shot spoiled because your subject wasn’t smiling when the shutter clicked? Then you’ll appreciate the T90’s Smile Shutter function. It works by delaying the camera shutter action until your subject is smiling, so your friends and family always look their best. You just click an icon to set the level of smile required and the camera does the rest. You can interrupt Smile Shutter by pressing the shutter button at any point if a shot looks interesting. You can instruct it to only shoot when one of several faces is smiling. You can even set a priority for children or adults.
Look forward to stunning images taken even when the natural light is not at its best. The BIONZ sensor on the T90 is calibrated to a high ISO of 3200, making it highly sensitive to any light available. Higher sensitivity enables faster shutter speed and so also reduces the blur on images, even in low light conditions.
Optical SteadyShot uses a sensor to stop
hand shake blurring pictures View larger
Optical SteadyShot to reduce picture blur
If you are shooting with the camera in your hand, there is always a danger of handshake spoiling your picture, even if your subject is a stationary. Optical SteadyShot uses gyroscopic sensors to rapidly change the position of the sensor inside the camera and so helps stabilise the image. This is especially important when zooming in on a subject.
Retouch shots on the move
If you can want to improve your shot right there and then, you can even perform simple retouching operations in camera without needing to download the image to your PC — such as cropping, altering exposure or removing red–eye. You can also make the most of the T90’s 3.0" Xtra Fine LCD screen by using it for playback as well as scene composition. It’s big enough to be viewed by more than one person, and the camera even allows you to add a music soundtrack and other fun effects so you can put on a real slideshow. Back at home, the T90 has an HD output too to allow you to show your still images at their best on an HD TV screen (optional cable required).
PMB (Picture Motion Browser) software
Managing your growing photo collection is hugely simplified by this software which comes free with the T90. Just install it on your PC and it provides a perfect archive for your shots which are all just a click or two away. You can arrange them by date, by person, and even search through them quickly. From here you can burn them to discs, send them to friends or upload them to sites in a matter of seconds.

Anyway, back to the point. This camera looks great and works great for point and shoot photos. The touch screen works superbly well and is intuitive as you would expect from Sony. In daylight the photos are crisp and clear, and everything you would expect of a far larger 12MP camera.
In low light the camera far exceeds the capabilities of my old compact camera. The auto mode works very well, except in dark snaps of scenery, as the photos can appear dark and the flash brings up specs of dust in the air (a common problem with compact cameras). However a simple turn off of the flash brings superb results. This eliminates the problems mentioned before and the in built processors work their magic and bring up some great night shots by compensating for the missing light.
Just one thing, buy a good case for this camera. It looks too good, and the front plastic is liable to a few scratches.
Mark my words, this is a great camera, and all your friends will want one when they see it! The only reason this doesn't hit 5 stars is because you have to play around with settings at night (not much, but enough to take off one star)
Turning on and off various functions of the camera is effortless as it's all on the screen you take the picture with just tap the icon and select on/off.
in my opinion one of the best functions the camera has is a calandar. Now this may sound rubbish at first and you might be thinking "why the hell would i need a calandar on a camera". Well. The calandar isn't for writing your meetings into. it's so you can easily file and oraganise your photo's. Shots taken on a Specific day stay in that day on the calandar which makes finding photo's sooo much easier. Also i go out quite a lot so it helps that the camera knows what day is what or fb would be swamped with random photo's all the time.
Another thing i like about the camera is that it looks so cool! everyone of my mates that's seen it always complement it. so it's definatly an attraction.
One thing that bugs me about it though is the way you have to charge is. some cameras need batteries (fair enough), some camera plug straight into a charger like a moblie phone (brilliant), however this camera requires you to remove the battery and place it in a seperate charger which is the size of the camera and quite annoying when you can't find.
The Battery life is also not the best but i do use it alot so that would probably be the reason.
Hope this helps you with your choice of camera and i would strongly recommend getting this camera if it is in your price range.
* Crystal-clear sound, almost like you're listening to the radio. Minimal distortion from the bass near the speakers. You have to hear it to believe it.
* You can still zoom up to 4x while shooting HD video (that's full-screen on most laptops!)
* Extremely easy operation, no need to read any manuals! All icons are self-explanatory on the touch screen
My only complaint would be that the built-in memory is only 12 MB which is enough for only 1 shot at the highest resolution so if you run out of memory on a trip you'd have to delete photos from the memory stick. Still, this is a minor problem, considering that some cameras come with no built-in memory at all!
Overall, this is a beautifully engineered product, something Sony is well-known for, that takes excellent quality pictures even in auto mode (iAuto).
Sony are acknowledging the issue on the T20 per a product recall however not on any other models (T3, T10, T2..) including this one which is prone to the error. These tend to happen 12-18months after purchase (outside of warranty) and cost a flat £114 to repair even though this is a manufacturer fault.
Suggest caution when buying anything from this range - please do search online as this is a widespread issue with all T series Sony cameras which they acknowledge themselves (but only on the T20).
