Sony's good 'un 18 Feb 2006
By A Customer
I bought my Cyber-shot W15 towards the end of 2005 and am delighted with its’ perfomance. This is a replacement for a 1999 Sony Mavica “museum piece” digital camera and the 512MB memory stick (bought separately) is a great improvement on the 1.44MB floppy used by the Mavica. I use a camera for both business and social photography and it has enabled me to finally put away my 35mm roll film camera as well as the Mavica.

Although not the smallest or lightest digicam around it is excellent value for money. It has a large (2.5”) viewing screen and a traditional (zoom) viewfinder - very useful when the sun is too bright for the LCD screen.

2 sets of rechargeable AA batteries are provided and Sony’s supplied charger can also be used for any other AA or AAA rechargeable batteries you might have. The camera comes with a quality case and a very comprehensive instruction manual, as well as the expected connecting cables. The wrist strap is removable and the attachment point can take a lanyard for hands free carrying.

The features on the W15 seem to include as much as any amateur like me would need and the results are very good. The camera is now used almost daily and is simple and quick to operate for both snapshots and composed shots. I thoroughly recommend it.

The sony cybershot w15 weighs in at only 197g and has a 5 megaixal ccd that will allow the user to enlarge their photos up to a4 size without any loss of clarity. This camera is impressive, not only does it start up in just 1.3 seconds allowing you to never miss that perfect shot it also takes 420 shots per battery charge. It has a high quality carl zeiss lens which helps creates sharp images, a 3x optical zoom and a 6x digital zoom. The camera has 7 different shooting modes to help you take the perfect shot every time. The camera takes movie clips with sound. On the reverse side of the camera thers is a high quality 2.5 inch lcd screen. The buttons are uncluttered and the menus are easy to navigate and understand. In the box you get the camera, software, av lead ( to connect camera up to tv), a strap, usb cable, rechargable battery's, a battery charger ,a genuine leather case and a manual. Overall this is a stunning camera and is well worh the money it takes high quality images and it's response rate is first class.Sony have produced a camera made of high quality parts and have built in some excellent features. Buy it and you wont be dissapointed.

Great but beware... 2 Oct 2006
This is the second sony camera I have owned. Both have been great but both have eventually suffered from the same problem. With excessive use, the lens eventually gets stuck in the open position. With a £115 repair cost from Sony Central Service, you might as well bin the thing. My advice, leave the camera on while you are likely to be taking photos. The battery life is excellent so this shouldn't be a problem. Don't do what I do and turn the camera on and off for every shot thereby wearing the lens motor mechanism. Still a great camera with a brilliant lens though.
