The official Component AV Cable provides audio and video connection between your PlayStation 2 or PLAYSTATION 3 and your TV set. I bought these cables to record with my HD PVR. The description claims on amazon that these cables also support 1080p (full hd) which I am glad to say does. My ps3 is displaying full 1080p. I always thought that component cables could not display 1080p but for some reason these one's do. The cable length is 2m which is huge. They are heavy for cables which is only a good thing. When the cables plug into your ps3 the fitting is tight which is good it is not loose like the cables you got with your ps3. On a side note if you want to render 1080p footage you have to record in 1080i (Due to the HD PVR) then render in 1080p. Beware though as this takes a lot of time. I have a phenom X6 with 8gb ram ant a 9 minute video still took around 3 hours. All in all well worth the extra money if you want to record gameplay.

I was using a Joytech £5 component cable with my PS2 connected to a Samsung 32" LCD TV which worked fine. I wanted a better quality component cable, but the Ixos cable is no longer available and the Monster cable is too pricey at £60. So I took a risk with the Sony official cable. It's a bit over priced at £27, it cost more than my PS2 did! - hence the 4 stars. So was it worth the risk and is the quality better than the cheap Joytech cable?.... Yes it is. There is more clarity in the picture and the colours are better, especially the whites seem brighter. Some games it is more noticeable than others. Overall I'm glad I bought it. Hope this helps anyone trying to decide whether to invest in an expensive component cable over the cheap "eBay" ones. As always amazon were excellent, delivery was quick even using super saver.

An absolutely awful piece of equipment. It promised HD gaming and this is exactly what I didn't get. I've followed multiple online guide and it did not lead me to this. A massive waste of time.

Great Quality for games only.
Plays games in 1080p and lower if required, does not play blu ray movies in 1010p though! So be warned if that is what your buying it for.

Improves picture quality
This cable certainly improves the picture quality of the PS2 games and maybe slightly for PS1 games I bough this for my PlayStation 2 so the game would look better on a HDTV.
