Immerse yourself in 3D and hi-def surround sound with the Sony HT-AS5 5.1ch Satellite Speaker Surround Sound System. The system has compact satellite speakers that look great in any room, high-definition surround sound, and can connect up to 3 HD devices over HDMI® without needing a separate optical digital audio cable.
Other features include the DCAC--one-push automatic sound set-up for flexible speaker placement and optimum sound quality--and Digital Cinema Sound, developed in conjunction with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring the movie experience to your home. A portable audio enhancer also boosts the quality of compressed music such as MP3 files.
The S-Master digital amplifier will provide crystal clear sound for playback faithful to the original source, with Dolby® Digital, Dolby® Prologic II and DTS Decoding. There is also a wireless rear speaker option--an optional extra that enables you to enjoy a cable-free environment (rear speakers only). BRAVIA® Sync is also available--a simple, one touch integrated control over your BRAVIA® TV and other compatible products with only one remote plus BRAVIA® TV widget for audio control.
And if you're worried about excess noise, night mode reduces bass and enhances dialogue, which is perfect for watching movies late at night without upsetting the neighbours. The system also includes a built-in RDS FM/AM tuner with 30 preset stations.

Ordered this before it came out, after hearing great things. I now hear great things through the AS5, and in glorious 5.1
Found it very easy to set up, including my SKY HD box, linked to the AS5 with a Neet Black Line HDMI cable. My TV only had one HDMI input, so this solved a few problems with the three ports. I will confess to being a Sony junkie, but this is really great for music, movies and tellybox. The auto calibration with supplied mic made it an even quicker system to fine tune.

purchased this and it arrived today, took it out of the box, plugged in the speakers to their colour coded ports on the amp/sub, plugged in my Sony bluray player and skyHD to the hdmi, plugged the whole lot into my sony hdmi tv port and that was it, apart from settng the auto speaker calibration, within half hour i had superb sound filling my lounge.....the same remote works the whole lot. the cables for the speakers were not the length i required but as the spearker side of the cable is open ended there was no problem in extending them to suit my needs. the speakers do feel a little on the light side but this is just my opinion and is not a reflection of their quality.I did find the need to reduce the center speaker down a little as it was too high for me and made speach sound a bit "tinny".....but again this is just my opinion.....take a bit of time to tweek the speaker levels to your own prefernces and you wont be dissapointed,the sound, backed up by the deep tones of the sub remains crisp and clear at any volume level....
I have had high end Bose systems in the past and the sound quality on this set up is up there with the best, .........on the whole a very impressive system that you would expect from sony.

Works well in all departments ie Blueray Player, including with a Humax Freesat+ box.
Stunning sound and picture quality and simple to use. Requires an HDMI lead from each of the units to be used with it and one to the TV, don't skip on quality for price.
