Good value and performance from Sony,
By James B. Spink "Jim" (Kent, UK) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sony CMTEH15 Micro HiFi System (Electronics)
The Sony CMT-EH15 Micro Hi-Fi System is a very competitively priced big brand audio system which will look good in any room, but at its size it is especially suitable for the kitchen or bedroom. It features an FM/AM radio, a CD player, a cassette deck and has a 3.5mm Line-in jack on the front panel which can easily be connected to the headphone socket of an iPod, MP3 player or laptop. It also features a headphone socket for private listening. For about ten pounds more the Sony CMT-EH45 DAB Micro System also features a DAB tuner if that is a feature you require; other models also feature a proper iPod dock.
However, if you just want a good name brand with useful features at a competitive price then the CMT-EH15 will meet your needs very well. I use mine in the bedroom mainly for playing CDs or Spotify and Internet radio from the laptop via the Line-in socket, and the results are excellent. I replaced the FM aerial with a rabbit ears design and got much better radio reception as a result, allowing me to programme more of the thirty radio presets! A good sounding no frills system from Sony which gives excellent results and won't break the bank. Five stars at the price and recommended for many applications.

Sony CMTEH15 Micro Hi Fi System,
By
This review is from: Sony CMTEH15 Micro HiFi System (Electronics)
This little Hi Fi system was finally bought after carefully comparing others in the same class and price range from a number of suppliers.
The Pros: The Sony has the advantage of having a Line-In facility which means it can be connected to devices such as an MP3 player through the headphone output of the device. The sound of this unit is generally very good and it looks very stylish, I wish I could afford to buy one for the kitchen as well!. I am hopeful it will stand up to being operated by my three young children as I have bought it as a system for their room. I have had the unit for about 8 weeks and all seems to be well, the radio is OK and the tape deck & CD gets plenty of use. I have yet to use the MP3 playback facility but the kids have an Alex Rider story on MP3 format CD to listen to sometime soon. Generally I think it is excellent value, very adaptable, and is a fine quality piece of equipment given its relatively low price. The Cons: Very minor niggles are that the speaker cables are rather short, there is a limited choice of tone settings, the CD lid does not shut easily everytime unless operated carefully and the Line-In input level seems to be set too low so a device such as an MP3 player will need to be set at high volume in order to get a sufficient sound level through the speakers which obviously has an impact on its battery life.
