In Detail

Stream your music using Bluetooth

Where do you keep your music? On your iPhone or iPod? On your smartphone, laptop or tablet? The easiest way to send all your favourite sounds to your home audio system is over the airways using Bluetooth. You’ll no longer have to hunt around for USB cables and then have them trailing over the floor. Simply pair your system with your Bluetooth enabled device of choice and away you go. Stream your latest collections over in seconds. And with full support for AAC and apt-X codecs, sound quality is even better than you get with standard Bluetooth audio.

Connect with one-touch

If you have an NFC-enabled smartphone, tablet or music device, things are even easier. Touch it against your audio system to quickly establish a wireless connection and start listening to your songs. With NFC (Near Field Communication), a single touch is all it takes to pair up your system with your favourite device. There’s no cables to worry about, no complicated settings to plough through, no fuss. It’s all about enjoying your music as quickly as possible.

All your favourite CDs and DJs

It’s good to have all your music in one place. This system plays host to a wide array of different music sources. Play your CDs, CD-R and CD-RW discs with the fun of shuffle or repeat. Listen to MP3 tracks in Hi-Fi sound quality by connecting your music player to the audio-in port. Tune into favourite FM and DAB+ radio stations with the convenience of 20 presets. You can also connect a Bluetooth adaptor to the USB input and enjoy your music wirelessly through Bluetooth headphones.

Turn up the power

Why buy a poor quality Hi-Fi that churns out tinny, washed out sound? Better to go for one that reproduces every note clearly and precisely with the power to do your music justice. This system keeps you entertained with a booming 50 watts of RMS power output. It includes DSEE for enhancing the sound quality of compressed audio tracks by restoring the high range sound lost during compression. Whatever the source, your music sounds clear and natural with rich, precise tones from two high quality compact speakers. Fine tune using the bass and treble equaliser.

Booming bass at the touch of a button

Sometimes you want to bring out those deep thumping beats in your club and rap music. Or driving basslines in classic funk tracks. Activate the Bass Boost function to increase the volume of low end frequencies, giving you a more resonant, full-bodied sound which is perfect for parties.

Adds style to any room

With its clean, elegant design in silver and black, this system makes quite an impression. Place it in any spare space in your living room and it will look right at home there. The flush fascia with its neatly arranged controls and large volume dial make the system easy to use and you also have the convenience of infra-red remote control from your armchair. Fit the compact two way speakers on shelves or side tables and you remove the grilles if you wish for a more edgy appearance.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I've not owned a Hi-Fi in many years since buying an iPod. However I am surprised by how technologically advanced this Hi Fi was. The unit itself is small and compact, the speakers makes up for much of the bulk and is fairly typical in size. The immediate upside for me was the ability to connect the Hi Fi wirelessly to my Mac, PC, iPhone, Android mobile and iPad via bluetooth. Pairing is a breeze, and I can still adjust the volume via the Hi Fi unit. You can also even connect via NFC on smartphones to make the whole process even simpler. I am also really pleased that the Hi Fi accepts a USB drive with MP3 music. This facility makes it much more convenient and economical so you don't have to keep burning CDs, and makes it much easier for you to organise your music in one location. It can also play MP3 CDs, meaning you can fit 700MB worth of MP3s without converting it into a `normal' CD which typically holds about ~12-14 songs. The Hi Fi has DAB, FM/AM radio with the popular presets so there is minimal initial set-up.

Performance wise, the sound quality is very good thanks to the large speakers. You have the option to boost the bass and adjust the equaliser for treble. The set also comes with a remote control, all buttons are clearly labelled and easy to understand. Although the manual was minimal, I have found little need for it as it was so simple to figure out settings for different music sources i.e Bluetooth/USB/Radio/CD. I'd also like to mention that the Bluetooth playback is equally as good with minimal loss of quality and large distance tolerance. As expected the unit has a headphone jack and all the cables are supplied to hook up the radio antenna and speakers. Like most music devices, you can choose different modes of play including repeat / shuffle / normal.

I have long purchased Sony hi-fi's for their ease of use, superior sound quality and stylish design. This latest CMT is no exception, the component unit and speakers are very compact, ideal for my use, where they have to fit on a small unit under the staircase in our lounge. The finish of the unit is a nice brushed metal and the buttons are logically arranged on the front and on the included remote. A major difference from the older Sony hi-fi's is that there is no cd eject button on the remote, but this is not a problem for long!

The display is very clear, white LCD's and in DAB mode, can display the station name and song playing. It is a shame the clock does not display in standby as on my old Sony but assume it is power saving feature.

The speakers are well made and in a nice black ash wood with removable covers, they look stylish on or off, and the unit is lovely in any home. The sound quality is excellent and the sound is lovely and rich and you have bass and treble sound adjustments, and Mega Bass so everyone will find a happy medium. I have paired my ipod and the songs stream over fine, the only niggle is at first use of the Cd player, please wait does stay on a while but I haven't found it to be a problem.

All in all, I am pleased to upgrade to the CMT after years of owning older Sony CMT's and the sound is fantastic for a unit of the price. Amazon sell them at a good saving over Sony's RRP, which is 249.99 I would recommend it to anyone wanting a great sounding hi-fi.

I bought this primarily to use with my iPod classic via USB, as the system is advertised as being iPod/iPhone/iPad/Android compatible. However, this compatibility is ONLY via Bluetooth and not via USB. This isn't made clear anywhere. The CD and DAB playback is good, but I ended up returning my system straight away as it didn't suit my needs - if you use the more recent iDevices or Android devices with Bluetooth, then I can highly recommend it.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Upon opening the package one is greeted with a superb looking set.
The box looks gorgeous, oozes quality, and is of a metallic sheen and hue with matt black crystal display.
The speakers are black, very well built with excellently built and worked components and cones and tweeters, materials all over - speakers and main body are top quality.

The Set up has everything one could wish for - CD and DAB Radio plus ability to easily sync (Bluetooth) your MP3 player such as iPod/Pad/Phone/Android - seamlessly.

Selection, connecting and set up is easy, self explanatory and works great - Sony has the experience and knowhow.
Has all the options for EQ, presets and seems to have a very high quality Processing Unit and the quality is very good - - and Sony oozes quality, it's Japanese and one of the few left to fly the flag against the Korean onslaught.

Sound quality, deep bass, clear level mids and crystal highs with no distortion - beautiful rich, full sound, enough for a LARGE room such as a lounge.

The price os excellent for what you get - a Mini system with excellent Sound, superb build quality and very good (book case) speakers - versatile, compact and cool and quality enough for anything from a bedroom to a lounge or a kitchen/diner.

Excellent!

best sound quality I could find anywhere for under £250 and I looked around for quite a few weeks. I'm fussy about sound quality and wanted to replace an old high end system that broke and nobody could or was prepared to fix. I don't use the usb or Bluetooth but for its money its good and I'm happy with it.
However I feel I must point out that the ariel that amazon recommend you buy with it does NOT fit the connection.
