The Sony CMT-DC1 is a small, smart hi-fi system that is predestined to become a prized object of desire. This designer model from Sony not only looks great, but also performs admirably despite its compact dimensions. This neat miniature sound system is targeted at consumers with a variety of tastes and interior design preferences. It fits well in both hip single apartments and elegant interiors. Compactness brings with it another major advantage; micro hi-fi units combine the functions of large multi-component systems in a tiny package, but are much simpler to connect. They do not give rise to a hotchpotch of cables, and look tidy from the back as well as the front.
The CMT-DC1 comes in a "70s" guise. This 19-centimeter designer system has an entirely different outlook on style from its predecessor. It takes its lead from the lively retro look of the 70s with colours to match; the body is a stylish raven black, with the front panel finished in porcelain white and dominated by rounded button recesses which are mirrored by the design of the speaker grilles. The CMT-DC1 offers a CD player with a 1-bit D/A converter and front-loading mechanism, as well as a cassette deck with a Full Logic Auto reverse drive and CD Synchro recording functionality. The RDS tuner is equipped to receive FM and MW, and stores up to 30 radio stations. With an output of 2 x 35 Watt (RMS), this micro sound system is potent. The amplifier disposes of bass and treble controls as well as a Dynamic Sound Generator, which ensures a natural and dynamic acoustic pattern. Besides an audio input, the CMT-DC1 has an optical digital output for recording to MiniDisc. The wooden-look two-way bass reflex speakers have 12-cm woofers and 2.5-cm tweeters. The front grille is removable.

Am thrilled with this system- it is stylish and has many features which are not mentioned in the amazon description which include: clock, timer, sleeper and the ability to program record radio programmes- v smart! the price is also v attractive and the sound is amazing- even my brother was impressed - something which doesn't happen often! I highly recommend this product!

Cracking little system for the money. Couldn't believe it when I saw how much this was selling for at Amazon and was in the market for a system for the bedroom. The sound quality is excellent for a second system and it looks gorgeous. (The picture on the site doesn't do it justice). It's a shame there's no MiniDisc player built in, but other than that it's hard to fault. The sound won't match a standalone separates setup, but then hey what do you expect.

I have had this system for a few months and would happily recomend it. The sound quality is excellent, and with RDS tuner and 30 presets it represents excellent value.The system is very pleasing to the eye.
