Control Your Device Wirelessly

By connecting to your device via Bluetooth, this convenient handheld audio accessory can be clipped onto your clothing to enable you to move around freely and keep your phone in your pocket or bag and still listen to music, make and take calls and receive notifications. When a call comes in via your Smartphone, the display will show you who is calling and you can even view recent calls and call again directly. With simple one-touch NFC pairing, connecting to your device is much easier than using a cable – just touch once to pair your NFC-enabled Smartphone with your wireless headset. NFC is pure magic. Even if you don’t have an NFC-enabled Smartphone, pairing with any device that supports standard Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) is easily done in the conventional way. Not only is this wireless headset multi-compatible, but it will also connect to two Smartphones or other devices at the same time. Once paired, life is wireless and life is easy.

Impressive Audio

To enable you to get the most out of your entertainment, the SBH50 is supplied with headphones that provide premium dynamic sound, so you can hear your music the way it was made and benefit from the best possible voice call audio experience. As well as deep, rich bass and a clean and clear treble, the integrated microphone technology is designed to pick up the broadest range of frequencies in human speech, so even the person you are calling will experience superior sound. What’s more, background noise is kept to a minimum and the in-ear design of the headphones makes for an optimal on-the-move music experience.

Great Design

Durable, lightweight and compact, the SBH50 is designed to be used in any situation. Even if it starts to rain, it’s no problem. The SBH50 is splash-proof and can take the weather. An easy-to-read OLED display and clear buttons for controlling music, calls and volume make it extremely simple to use and it also acts as a wireless remote, giving you control of your music from up to 10 metres away. Not only that, but the Sony Stereo Bluetooth Headset SBH50 has a built-in stand-alone FM radio with Radio Data System (RDS) which displays information such as the station name, so you can enjoy real-time entertainment on the go without consuming phone battery power.

Smart App-Enabled

Optimised for Android, the SBH50 has a selection of app extensions to discover at Google Play, including display notifications so you can view text messages, emails, calendar event reminders, your call log and social networking updates. Never miss an important call or notification again.

I've had a Sony Ericsson MW-600 for years but recently found the battery wasn't holding a good charge to last through the day so I thought I'd look at Sony's latest models.

The SBH50 seemed great, good battery life, multi line display, firmware can be upgraded... I also liked the apps you could install on the phone for different functions, things like access to the call log, phone book and reading text messages. Super flexible!

So I got the SBH50 and initially was very happy. It operates whilst charging, a big improvement, and the plastic clip looks much better than the one on the MW600 which broke fairly soon after I got it.

Didn't take long to pair with my phone and I was soon installing apps and playing, there's a wealth of information you can see on the device, missed calls, texts, facebook. Sound quality is good and it can even read out incoming messages, great!

Then I came to make a call, pressed the big button and nothing. Pressed a couple of times, still nothing. I was expecting voice dialling to kick in, it works on the MW600. Maybe this needs to be setup? Or perhaps I missed an app??

No, this updated device doesn't support voice dialling so you're back to fishing out the phone to make a call!

So much for hands-free, come on Sony it can't be beyond you to produce an app for this purpose?

Very easy to set up but I had a constant issue with it disconnecting from playing media & then being unable to reconnect media to headphones, this issue happened so many times I had to send it back for a refund even though I liked the actual device & the way it sounded.

I tried the device on my other phone, Note 2, but the same problem so it's no use to me & I see others have reported the same problem after the latest firmware update. I am sorry to say I can't recommend this device given my experience.

I thought it would just be another headset but it adds a lot more functionality to smartphones without fm tuner. Very pleased.

Once I'd installed the app and connected to my Xperia Z1 using NFC, I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. Sound quality is good and it's fairly easy to operate (the buttons are pretty small but that's a minor quibble). The clip allows you to stick this on a shirt pocket whilst leaving your phone safely tucked away in a zipped up jacket pocket (or even rucksack - no issues with the range).
Once set-up initially, it also connects easily to my phone using NFC and does so time and again. I just hold the headset against the phone for a couple of seconds and it's connected. There's a mains unit and mini USB cable supplied in the box (the mini USB cable is one of the shortest I've ever seen though!). The FM radio is a nice bonus and provides great crackle free reception. Battery life seems good - I've been using a mix of the inbuilt radio and Walkman app and am getting 7-8 hours battery life per charge. It also works with any headphones which is a bonus.
On the downside, whilst you can easily skip tracks on an album, it's less easy to move from one album to another. I found this rather hit and miss and resorted to using my phone's screen to do so.
However, for the price and convenience, I'd recommend to anyone with a NFC enable phone who regularly listens to music but wants to keep their phone out of harms way.

I paired the SBH50 Stereo Bluetooth Wireless Headset with my Nexus phone and tablet, after downloading the appropriate apps on the devices. It was simple to set up and worked perfectly immediately. Once that's been done the first time, it connects automatically every time its switched on.

The sound quality from these is excellent. Also the inbuilt FM Radio is better than the radio app on my device. The ability to change the music source from the SBH50, and to answer and end phone calls on it, makes this perfect for my needs. My phone stays out of site at all times. I clip the SBH to the webbed strap of by tablet bag, but it would be just as easy to clip it to a jacket lapel, shirt pocket, tie or even a tee shirt collar (although I haven't tested it that way). Very impressed with the battery life too. In fact, I've never run it completely down.

Okay, these aren't cheap - but they're good quality and worth buying. I think they're a sound investment.

Very silly little device interface. If it fails to connect it is easier to switch off and on again then try to remember or figure out how to tell the bloody thing to search again.
On Z1 with NFC it connects easily. Good luck if you are using PC with adaptor.

Great, 8+ hours before needing a charge, waterproof has come in handy as I've been caught in torrential downpours twice with this device so far and its not skipped a beat.

Nice simple lightweight design, easy to use controls even with light gloves on.

My only criticism, the bundled headphones are garbage, but i expected that and have replaced them with better already.
