I bought this item to burn Blu-ray home movies made on the Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10 HD Platinum editing software. My computer is new and running Windows 7(64bit). I have had no problems during burning with excellent results so far using Sony BD-R Blu-ray discs. It has also burned SD movies using Sony DVD-R discs, and double layer DVD discs (these were Tesco's own brand) with no problems and excellent results.
The only downside is as other reviews have mentioned, the disc tray looks fragile when it's open and you are a bit frightened to handle it to roughly, just incase you break it.I expect that's just me being a bit over cautious. Once the disc is in and the little burner is running it does it's job quickly and quietly.
On the whole it is a Sony and a great bit of kit.

I bought this as it is 3D capable also..Till now I copied 5 50GB Blu-rays & this handled the job very well & completed each disk in one and half hour (46GB data).I would recommend this to anyone willing to buy an efficient writer + Player

Nothing is perfect, but I will give it 5 stars anyhow. That's because there are no one better. It is slim and it is heavier than a corresponding external DVD drive. So it feels like the hardware matches the heavier quality of the BD drive. One thing is that Cyberlink's entire suite for Windows is in the package. And that includes the very important BD player. It is PowerDVD 9 Ultra and it will play Blu-ray very nicely on Your laptop. If the laptop can do it.
Mine can do it being a MacBook Pro with Windows 7. There are a Power Producer for video editing and some burner software as well. It all sums up to the Cyberlink Suite. Not the latest, but a reasonably late Suite.

If you subtract PowerDVD 9 alone it amounts to 99.99- not to mention the rest of the suite, then You only pay around 68.- for the burner. And that is the reason for the 5 stars!
Included is a mains current cord that matches both UK and Denmark, were I live.
It is a beautiful little slim drive that replaces my old LG big drive.
