Product Description

Following on from an illustrious line of award-winners, the Sony BDVN7200W is the all-in-one package deal to beat all others. ASTONISHING PICTURE QUALITY WITH 4K UPSCALING AND TRILUMINOS COLOUR Thanks to a number of high-end technologies, the Sony BDVN7200W really does take Blu-ray to the next level. Perhaps the most impressive of these technologies is 4K upscaling. This upscales conventional Blu-ray to the new 4K standard. When matched to a suitable 4K TV, this gives an incredible 4 x the detail of the already impressive 1080p of Blu-ray. Simply put, detail and realism are unmatched. For colour that comes alive, the Sony BDV-N7200W also uses Triluminos technology. The wider range of colour tones adds depth to the image and makes it appear more natural.

The sound quality and power of this system really is awesome for the price. The blu ray picture quality is excellent to. Connected to a sony 46in W9 TV. Have listened to some blu ray high fidelity pure audio music on the system the sound will blow you away! My old system is a sony 2010 model 1000w which at the time cost £950. This new system is much superior. Only problems I had was connecting to the Sony entertainment network. But since found the problem was my router settings. Cannot recommend enough!

I chose this system because there was no need to run wires across the room, just along the front and back walls, so not taken in by the term wireless in the description. It replaced a system that used to crackle with interference running wireless rear speakers, with no hiss or crackle at all. I also wired in my old floor standing speakers as they had the same 6 ohm rating as these, but more for sentiment than to improve the sound as the supplied speakers were excellent. SACD collection has been dusted off and is filling the room with sound. Turned off all of the fancy sound modes, so now it plays TV, CDs and MP3s in 2.1 stereo, SACDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays in 5.1. Manually set the distance and output on the speakers to deal with an offset TV position and I'm very happy, looks much smarter than the stereo amp and old surround system it replaced. So, expect to spend some time doing the set up, only annoyance so far is that it turns off the system when I turn off the TV, even if playing a CD when the TV is not required. DVD up scaling onto a 51" TV isn't always smooth on a busy scene, but Blu-Rays at their sparkling best.

I choose this system as it looks great, previous version sounded good, price and it's Sony.

However, on unpacking the speakers they are very large, but not a problem as I was wall mounting them so they look great, if you are planing on shelf mounting be careful they are top heavy and no other shelves can be closely oboe the self they are on.

Wireless implies the rear speakers have no wires! This is not the case, you have to wire the speakers to a second remote unit, this is the part that is not wired to the main unit, so if you are expecting no wires on the rear wall you would be disappointed (unless like me I hid them in the wall).

Setting up was really easy......However I was not impressed with the sound as it was no where near as loud as expected, even when manually setting the speakers to there loudest in the settings it didn't meet expectation.

That night I found during some vocals (faulty towers) I heard some distortion.....strange! Then later during a blue-ray film (twilight chap 10 when she listens to his piano music) the distortion was very clear.
I then tested and auto set the system this did not help, the distortion was present in the front left and rear right speakers!!!

Speaking to Sony did not help they refer me to a local advent who wanted £30 to pick up and repair, why surely he's paid by Sony to repair/replace under warranty.

Anyway long story short, today I have ripped it out as the sound gets worse, (although tapping the centre speaker of the distorted speaker helps for short time) and have took it back to the seller at my expense to get my money back.

I am now looking to get the same model somewhere else as I was very happy with the look and sound (not loudness) when I thought it worked so the new one can only be better!
I would recommend this unit but be aware of this fault and take it straight back if you have this as it gets worse.
