Had this now for a week and using it with a Sony KDL37EX723BU TV and Virgin TiVo and the Sony wireless adaptor.
The installation was relatively straight forward though the instructions lean slightly too much towards brevity: whilst I appreciate Sony's attempt to save paper and that the full manual is downloadable from the Sony website [...]it would have been useful to have a little more detail on Network and IPhone/IPod connectivity/use straight out of the box, especially as these are particular sales features of the system.
I initially connected my TiVo direct to the HDMI 1 input in BDVL600 which at first appeared to be fine, however whilst watching a film broadcast on a commercial HD channel sound was lost every time the broadcast went to adverts. I have now connected my TiVO to the TV and all seams to be fine (I would probably recommend this, even had I not had the sound problem, as it makes switching between TV and TiVo much more straight forward).
Build quality is very good, the sub woofer is substantial and sounds rich and deep with no booming and the wireless link worked well first time although, given that the side speakers still need to be hard wired to this unit and that you are likely to went these close to the TV, there is no great benefit in having this facility in my opinion. The side speakers are good looking and reasonably substantial but a little plasticy and so the high end sound is a touch thin though very much better than the sound from my TV. Overall, though not HI-FI quality, the sound is very good for the price and if, like me, you are not interested in the full 5.1 surround sound and all the clutter and expense that accompanies this, this unit represents an excellent alternative.
The picture quality is where this device really shines, both form Blu-ray discs and very impressively from up-scaling of DVD's. I can not fault the system in any way in this respect. Both the BDVL600 and my TV are 3-D capable but I personally am not too bothered with this (I do not own any 3D glasses, not just becasue of Sony's overpricing of these, but I find 3-D a distraction) and so I am unable to comment on the quality of this facility.
My biggest peeve is that an HDMI cable is not supplied!
Overall, the picture quality, build and styling are excellent. Sound is good and as I would have expected for the price.
