First of all I was very pleased with the look of the speakers, much slimmer and sleeker than the ones I had. The front tall boys have that black gloss finish to them which nicely match my TV cabinet.
Set up was easy enough although I thought that the automatic calibration using the mic wasn't right so I had to tweak the individual speakers to get the result I wanted. No problem though, it was easily enough done following the on screen menu.
The picture and sound quality is very good but I would have preferred to have separate bass and treble controls rather than the five preset sound modes. Having said that, any of the sound modes, in my opinion, will produce impressive results from blue-rays . Watch out for the sub-woofer, it is loud and very effective.
Playing my iPod through the system gives impressive results. I was a bit unsure about using this function at first as I thought you had to have the blu-ray home screen on view on the TV so I was a bit afraid of screenburn. Happily this is not the case and my music has been given a new lease of life. My personal taste means that I need to increase the treble on the iPod as the preset sound modes are too bassy for me. Great sound though.
I also think that playing TV from the Sky+ through the unit is very good as well. My previous dvd system was not up to the task and never seemed to produce any sound to the rear speakers even when the broadcast was in Dolby Digital. This one is very good and even when the output in LCPM stereo there is still sound from the rear speakers. Not proper surround I know but it is still pleasing to hear. The display will tell you if the output signal is LCPM or DD.
DVD upscaling ranges from average to good. I don't believe any comment when it is said that the upscaling gives as good quality as a blu-ray.
I am not connected to a network so I can't comment on that feature although it would have been nice to have a Wi-Fi connection. I was aware of this before I bought the unit so it is not an issue for me.

This has to be one of the best pieces of kit I have bought! Fantastically fast delivery from Amazon (ordered on a Friday evening, delivered Tuesday).
It looks fantastic (especially the black gloss finish on the tall boy speakers and player) and is so easy to set up.
I am not a technical person but Sony have made this extremely easy to set up whether you want to do 'easy set up' or go through it all individually.
As mentioned on another review, use good leads! You will benefit from spending a few £ more as the picture is fantastic and the sound blows you away.
I had a Sony surround sound system before this which was great and can safely say I will have another after this one.
The price (also including the Sony VAT offer) is unbelievable! Nearly £200 saved buying it here than from the main electrical stores and high st.
I have not used it enough to comment to much on everything but so far so good. There is loads of on line content which I yet to look at. This however leads me to the reason why I gave it a 4* rather than a 5*. It is advertised as wireless but you do have to buy a wireless adapter to benefit from this seperately. It does however have an ethernet slot.
Overall, definately buy if you want good quality in all areas (+ its 3D ready).

About the product, it is amazing.
1) Neatly boxed with all wires properly color coded and a detailed setup instruction manual for quick start up. Setup on its own took only 45 minutes along with the calibration using the supplied calibration mic. Further tweaking can be done for each individual speaker thus getting the kind of result an individual wants. Wire length is good enough to cover a decent room of roughly 15' x 15' easily.
2) Tall boy front speakers really look cool with glossy finish and standing tall, matching perfectly the height of my television.
3) Rear speakers if where of the same size would have given the room a more home cinema look.
4) Sub-woofer is perfect and gives enough bass for a movie like `The Dark Knight' or `Transformers'.
5) Center speaker is sleek and sits well under the television.
6) About the main unit, it's more of a box but with a good finish and an informative display. The small light gives a different look in the dark room and can be dimmed so much not to distract.
7) Blu-rays and DVD's picture quality is amazing. Sony knows what they are doing to deliver quality picture. Upscaling is average (FRIENDS) to good for Reservoir Dogs, PULSE (Pink Floyd), Lord of The Rings to name a few.
8) 5.1 channel digital HD sound is delivered to the perfection though sometimes the woofer overshadows any dialogues.
9) DLNA link to my computer works well and pictures, movies get delivered perfectly well. So do the DivX movies with a quality picture and sound.
10)Sky HD box is connected to the system and the digital broadcast is delivered through all speakers and is surprisingly quite good than just having it from down firing speakers of my TV.
11)Qriocity, LoveFilm, BBC iPlayer, Demand Five and others are the sweeteners giving this system an edge over others. My TV also has VieraCast but Sony knows much more and is delivering throughout its product line.
12)FM Radio, iPod connections are all delivering what they are expected to in an impressive manner.
13)One does need a quality HDMI cable to deliver all what is expected out of the product to deliver.
Overall a good buy and I am quite happy with it. Five star to the product but three star for City Link services.

Very Pleased with purchase.

Aviod if you want 3D.
