The lowdown:
If you already knew that B-Boys mean breakdancing then thereâs probably little chance you wonât enjoy this cleverly conceived dance off simulator. Designed almost like a beat âem-up you have to prove your superior dancing skills in a minute long outbreak of acrobatics against a rival. Using four basic moves youâre able to string combos together, earning extra moves as you progress through the story mode. You also have to keep the rhythm of the music with the shoulder buttons or youâll risk falling flat on your face. Waiting for your go in a match can become a bore and the game menus and interface are unnecessarily obscure, but the superb soundtrack ensures that Hip-Hop fans are unlikely to care too much. With some superb animation this is one of the most assured and inventive music games for ages.
Most exciting moment:
With a game as adversarial as this itâs unsurprising to find that the two-player mode against a fellow human is the best way to play it. It also solves the problem of having to wait for your go too, since this time can be handsomely filled goading your rival into making a mistake.
Since you ask:
As well as receiving rave reviews the soundtrack to B-Boy has been nominated for a video games BAFTA and is to be released as an eighteen track CD to accompany the game.
The bottom line:
A Hip-hop game without the violence but still plenty of action.

I bought this game just the other day mainly because i was curious as to what a breakdancing game would be like, i actually didn't expect it to be that good because it is aimed at such a niche audience and i thought it would not need to be a good game for people to buy it because it would rely on the game being unique. But i couldn't have been more wrong.
I have waited years for a game like this and i don't think the game could really be much better - really, i'd say this game is probably in the top 2-3 games i've ever played. The character movements have been captured perfectly, the transitions, moves etc just all look incredibly life-like and the way you achieve moves and combos is very challenging just like in real life - you have to put in some good practice not to crash your moves or miss beats. There is one thing i can fault regarding this game, and that is that in battles there is a 3 second break when one man exits the floor and the other enters, which would not happen in real life, but thats it, there are no other things i can critisise this game for - its just awesome. If you have ever breakdanced, been interested in breakdancing, are a breaker, or simply like hiphop music, dancing, or a great, different, challenging game - this is definately for you. If you don't have any sence of rhythm though, do not buy this game, you must have the ability to hit beats or you will not even be able to keep up simple moves like toprock and six-step, let alone freeze on the breaks and carry out decent transitions. But basically this game is amazing and you won't be dissapointed, if this game actually appealed to a wider audience it seriously would be up there with pro evo and san andreas. Buy it. :)

Febuary 2007-i was looking on you tube at beat boxing and as i was scrolling down i saw "B-boy" and i thought id click on it, to have a look what it was,i was stunned the graphics were great and the exicutions of the moves were brilliant! this was the next game id get, i did, it was definatley money worth spent, some of the moves are ace!, if you know how to play it.The game is hard at first but go on tutorial before doing anything and it just comes easy. The moves in the game well the base moves are top rock, baby freeze, windmill and footwork my personal favorite is windmill.I wasn't to keen on break dancing but everybody listen to me!!
GIVE THIS GAME A TRY,I WILL GUARENTEE YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!

This is the kind of game that those who have been b-boying (breakdancing) have spoken of for years. Its always been hard to imagine how it would ever work but Freestyle Games have really captures the technical side of breakin.
The way that moves link and are transitioned into shows real attention to detail. It boogles the mind what kind of juggling the programmers had to do to create so many transitions for this game! Techincally this game is brilliant but there are minor gripes. Firstly the lack of personality from your created character or from some of the other characters in game. If you don't know who some of the b-boys are (of which there are 12 real ones and 28 made up), you might miss the physical character which is present in their movements. Speech might have helped with that. Also battling all the time may get dull for some (although I have yet to get bored!). When two people play then the fun really starts. The various options are present but the real laughs come from making fun of your friend and serving them with fresh moves! Overall this is a great package for anyone who is a b-boy or has ever thought of getting into it. For a someone with a casual intrest they may find the intial difficulty of getting used to the mechanics somewhat overwhelming but stick with it and you will find an amazing technical achievement!
