Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review:

In a nutshell:
Half rhythm action game, half beat ‘em-up (without the violence) this is that rarest of games: a hip-hop themed title that isn’t all about ultra violence and sweary pimps. Instead it’s just you and the dancemat against the world.

The lowdown:
If you already knew that B-Boys mean breakdancing then there’s probably little chance you won’t enjoy this cleverly conceived dance off simulator. Designed almost like a beat ‘em-up you have to prove your superior dancing skills in a minute long outbreak of acrobatics against a rival. Using four basic moves you’re able to string combos together, earning extra moves as you progress through the story mode. You also have to keep the rhythm of the music with the shoulder buttons or you’ll risk falling flat on your face. Waiting for your go in a match can become a bore and the game menus and interface are unnecessarily obscure, but the superb soundtrack ensures that Hip-Hop fans are unlikely to care too much. With some superb animation this is one of the most assured and inventive music games for ages.

Most exciting moment:
With a game as adversarial as this it’s unsurprising to find that the two-player mode against a fellow human is the best way to play it. It also solves the problem of having to wait for your go too, since this time can be handsomely filled goading your rival into making a mistake.

Since you ask:
As well as receiving rave reviews the soundtrack to B-Boy has been nominated for a video games BAFTA and is to be released as an eighteen track CD to accompany the game.

The bottom line:
A Hip-hop game without the violence but still plenty of action.
HARRISON DENT

Fun:
"B-Boy" is one of those games that is so simple it's additive! The graphics are very good, the motion capture for this is very impressive and the gameplay striaght-forward.

There is a practise area and for once it is an area woth using as there are alot of moves to master. The clothing option does not really add much as, say, Def Jam Vendetta games clothing and jewellery options, and the loading times are pretty long, but the flow once you're playing, especially in a battle, is good. The music also is very good.

Buy this game, remember that Hip Hop is not just about rap, it's a culture - this game will educate those that don't know!

Fun:
This game is fantastic. It's none of your norm beat em up or FPS. If you have seen the music video or films of people breakdancing and wished you could well now is your chance. The controls can take a bit of used to but once you get going you are off. Busting some moves that make your opponent look like a dad dancer. A++

Fun:
As a wanna-be Bboy, I bought this game to keep me entertained on long journeys and for keeping up the whole breakdance thing. It's just as unrealistic as THPS, but it's definitely fun to mess around with and learn new moves and pretend like you're an aspiring Bboy.

Graphics: 8/10 (as good as they're gonna be on PSP really, all the crowd people look the same which is funny, just the same as FF or any other game really)

Soundtrack: 9/10 (tonnes of Bboy tunes, though some are a nightmare to keep rhythm up to!)

Playability: 7/10 (does get repetitive!)

Overall: 8/10

I reckon, a very sound purchase, especially for the price! Well, I was happy at least. Then again, I'm always a happy person. :P

Many blessings,

Amos36
