I ummed and ahhed about buying this for ages. I checked out any reviews I could find. These were variable, some positive some negative, so I ummed and ahhed some more. Techies I spoke to said 'get a standard ultra book' but I loved the look and concept of this model and finally decided to stop dithering and follow my heart!

Only had it a couple of days but so far....I love it! It is beautiful and sleek and seems to be able to do just about anything I want. I should add I am not particularly up with the latest technology (don't have a touch phone or a tablet) so the windows 8 change is huge for me. I am not sure what I think about it but accept I am going through a learning phase.

Regarding the T11 - I don't find the screen reliably sensitive to my touch (hence four stars). The digitiser stylus is the best way to interact with the screen. I find this a little annoying to pick up and put down but I think when I have completed upgrading to windows 8.1, I will probably use the keyboard when working and the touch screen facility when I am on the move. So not sure this will ultimately affect me.

I disagree with some of the negative comments I have read. I think that the on button on the side works perfectly and that it is in the right place. The power pack was not half as large as one review suggested and I thought compared to what I am used to, it was very light and neat and not at all an issue to carry around. However, I don't really feel it connects too well in to the computer and I fear I could be too rough when inserting it. I also find the wifi connection to be excellent.
I do agree that the port covers are unsatisfactory.

This is terrible. It might be OK as a toy or for watching youtube, but if you want to get any work done DON'T BUY THIS. The keyboard connection is intermittent depending on what other bluetooth devices are in the area I think. So it skips letters of gets stuck and has to catch up - especially annoying when deleting of scrolling. The keyboard freezes frequently and requires a restart to get it back. The keyboard runs out of juice way before the tablet so you either have to work on the touch screen - ie stop work; or - like me - carry another keyboard everywhere - which totally defeats the purpose of having something slim and light!
And even if you do plug in a peripheral mouse and keyboard the machine doesn't like it and freezes out every few minutes for ten or fifteen seconds. And I have tries this with a dozen keyboards and mouse combos.
Like I say - It's fine for a toy or watching movies, but it will drive you crazy if you want to get anything done.

Such a shame, because the ambition is excellent.

My Sony Vaio Tap 11 developed several faults within a few months of purchase, which are not due to wear and tear or misuse. The top right hand of the screen kept activating on its own registering repeated touches without actually touching the screen. In desktop mode this is where the close "X" is and thus the unit would repeatedly close down applications whilst being used. The keyboard would rarely charge when connected to the screen for more than a few minutes. It would switch off every 5 minutes, meaning I had to reconnect it for long enough to put the unit into sleep mode. Therefore, the keyboard could only be used if prepared to put the computer into sleep mode every 5 mins. These were just the start of my problems!

After more than 3.5 hours on the phone to Sony's premium rate number, 4 x resets to factory settings, 1 x failed repair attempt and a second stint in the repair centre (currently at 4 weeks and counting), I still have no working laptop.

Sony are refusing to replace/refund the product which is still in warranty. The support staff have not listened to any of the problems described despite nearly 4 hours on the phone to them. They have not updated me with progress at all despite assurances of a "VIP" service.

Their complaints department's final offer is no more than a £50 gift voucher as "good will" for selling me a faulty product for which I paid £1,105 that they have kept in their possession for over 4 weeks and which I have wasted nearly 4 hours DURING WORKING HOURS on the phone to them.

In addition, I sent in the stylus pen for the first repair ( I watched the courier put in the box and seal it in). Sony say they never received it and management are refusing to provide a replacement.

Absolutely beautiful in form and function but Oh so delicate. I've had 3 crashes that needed recovery, times it just wouldn't power up and the reported problems with Keyboard connection and Mouse. After a year it now seems perfect and unlike many I like Windows 8 and using Microsoft Office through it. This Laptop is much better than an Ipad by any measure but I constantly expect problems and Sony customer service can be a major problem. Too expensive for sure but it has no equivalent.

I love this laptop. The tablet (excluding keyboard) is only 800g!! Excellent performance and a joy to use. Digital pen is excellent too - like writing on paper. Losing one star for (average) battery life. Shame Sony have quite the PC market - they made good machines...
