Non-hit Wonders 30 Dec 2003

Workhorse Movement appeared from nowhere, brought something new to the nu-metal table and promptly imploded because it wasn't quite 'nu' enough. This is a unique album in a see of clones and wannabes. The Workhorse Movement brought heavy and funky sounds back to metal when everyone was whinging about how bad their childhood was. They truly were being literal about 'Keeping the Sabbath Dream Alive'

Its uplifting, great for getting ready for a night out at your local rock establishment. They were awesome live too, which is only slightly captured with this studio effort, twin vocalists Cornbread and Myron bringing their distinctive lyrics to the chugging beats.

Sadly they are no more, true 'piuoneers' in this field lost due to lack of commercialism. They're set to return [or at least some of them] as the Dirty Americans with a more fuzzed up 70's vibe, but in the mean time chill out to this classic album.

Sometimes you buy an album and it sounds awful but over time it grows on you, and you find yourself hooked, sometimes you don't and you never listen to it again (or give it to your little sister). Sometimes you buy an album and it blows your head off and makes you laugh like a gibbering idiot. This is one of THOSE albums.

If your idea of a good party is Monster Magnet playing as the backing band to Public Enemy whilst possessed by the ghost of Jim Morrison... it might be.... then BUY THIS & buy it now.

Actually, just buy it anyway. Horns, chant along choruses, bus sized riffs, a smattering of reggae and jazzy bass lines are used to give each song a life of its own, and, despite this eclecticism the album sounds awesome played front to back, back to front, mixed up, played backwards, whilst suspended from a tree....... music lovers.... BUY THIS ALBUM.
