5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Series, 11 Jun 2004
By J. D. Baldwin (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is probably the most underrated Sonic series, with the fewest amount of fans, but once you get into it, it's probably one of the best.

The series basically focuses around Sonic and his new siblings, Manic and Sonia, who are part of the Mobius Royal Family. Robotnik has taken over the land, and the Queen, Aleena, is on the run. Sonic and the gang have formed an underground resistance and aim to dispose of Robotnik, and reunite with their mother.
Yeah, the storyline is miles off, nothing like Sonic. However, being written by Ben Hurst of SatAM fame, the show keeps the same general feel of SatAM.

The show overall feels very professional. The quality of the artwork is top notch, is the voice acting, but the main thing you will notice is the songs. Yeah, they sing, and play fake instuments. It's easy to critisise them for this admittedly unnecessary addition, but it clearly shows the amount of dedication that went into the show, producing a new song for each episode. Besides, the storyline itself is cool enough, skip past the songs.

Give it a go, that's the best advice I can give, and let yourself get into the series, as opposed to dismissing it after one episode. It takes a while to get into the series and to learn to love it, but you will soon be glued and appriciate the work that went into this series.

Overall a recommended title. Probably not as good as SatAM... and while it may not be fully accurate, nor was SatAM.... just look at this as a cool Sonic spinoff, and at this price, it can't be missed. Remember, purcahsing these helps support the release of further Sonic DVD's!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sonic Underground Vol. 1, 11 Jul 2004

It's about time they started releasing the American Sonic cartoons on DVD. To tell the truth, I would have prefered to have SATAM released first, but Sonic Underground will do for now. Sonic Underground follows a similar plot to SATAM, the difference being that the other Freedom Fighters (Tails, Rotor, Bunnie, Antoine) are nonexistent in this series, and Sonic has siblings. Sonic Underground is an underated but enjoyable show that any Sonic fan should enjoy. The episodes on this DVD are nothing to really write home about, as the show is just getting started, the really good episodes don't come till later. I have one quibble with this series, though, and that's the songs that the characters play in the middle of each episode,. Most of them tend to be a bit on the annoying side, though a FEW sound at least halfway decent. A slight dissapointment is that this disk has no extras on it, but I'm just happy to finally have this series fully released on DVD at last, so I won't complain.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet , apart from the songs
It has no real beggining which i'm not so keen on, apart from that it's a very good story. Don't expect this to follow on from other Sonic tales, as their is no Tails or Knuckels... Read more
