Tails is a fox who has the ability to hover in the air using his 2 tails as propellers. He first appeared in 1992 as Sonic's best friend and has been helping thwart Dr Eggman ever since. Tails is a popular character in the series and a fan favourite in spin off titles such as Sega Superstars Tennis and Sega and Sonic All Stars Racing.
Knuckles was introduced to the Sonic game series in 1994, originally as a rival having been tricked by Dr Eggman, however since then has featured as an ally. His ability to glide, climb ledges and power have made him a favourite among fans and he regularly features in Sonic spin off titles such as Sega Superstars Tennis and Sega and Sonic All Stars Racing.
Metal Sonic is a robotic Sonic built by Dr Eggman sent back in time to change the past so that Dr Eggman can rule the future. His appearance has made him a popular villain in the series and lead to him featuring in the Mario and Sonic London 2012 Olympic videogame.
First featuring in Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001 Shadow the Hedgehog has built up a huge fan-base. His hover shoes enable him to reach speeds that rival even Sonic himself while he also has the ability to distort time using 'Chaos Control'. He is a now a huge fan favourite due to his regular appearance in Sonic and spin-off titles.
Amy Rose has been chasing Sonic's affection since 1993. She has often been in trouble even being kidnapped by Metal Sonic however can more than hold her own by wielding her 'Piko Piko Hammer' weapon.
