"Holy Pepperoni! What is THAT?!"
~ Classic Sonic cartoon charm.

This book certainly wasn't "Way Past Cool" but it was enjoyable.

The first few mini-series based around the original Death Egg I remember from playing Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles had a strong Nostalgic feel to them. I haven't read any others in the Sonic Select series, but this one simply grabbed my attention for Nostalgic value. The art style of the old Archies reminded me of waking up early in the mornings, switching on the television to watch Sonic SatAM, which just filled me with memories of my childhood. Every line I read of Dr. Robotnik, I heard Jim Cummings legendary performance from the TV show. "SNIVLEY!!!!!"

Now, unfortunately only 50% of the book is worth it.
The second half is just all over the place if you haven't read any of the previous comics over 2009 - 2011, which I haven't.
Not to mention, Im not a fan of the new style sonic and this "EGGMAN" stuff.

The many curse words replaced with lines such as "Great Googally Moogally!" just adds to the humour and family friendliness.
Yes, I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it, but only to those that either are a long time fan of the series or like me were looking for a one off enjoyable Nostalgic trip down memory lane. At $12.00, it definitely wasn't a bad buy.

Sonic select appeals 29 Nov. 2012

Sonic select is a collection of storys telling the death egg saga the first half is full of sonic archives comics telling the story of sonic and tails. Sonic and the knothole gang have to get rings to save king acorn. In case your wondering thats sallys father dont worry i didnt spoil it not even half of it. All in all its an old sonic fans dream to have if your more of a modern sonic you might find the archive art style really bland but if you can get past that small problem its a fun comic and tells the story well.
