Everyone's favourite hedgehog has been given a slick new makeover, making him shinier and spikier than ever before and the now isometric world is rich with colour and life.
Blasting around the huge levels at a dizzying speed without fear is pretty good fun for a while, and when you get sick of that then you can get down to the business of rescuing the five Flickys from each level. This is a good budget version of a classic platform adventure.--Trent Redue

Fun when you feel like it, but... aaargh!,

I've always thought Sonic a little too fast for his own good, but in this '3D' game he is very clumsy too. The distance and position of ledges is difficult to judge from the isometric viewpoint - which is very bothersome on the volcano level! It also makes flying missiles a pain to avoid!
The Special Stages follow the same half-pipe idea as Sonic 2, with one major flaw. They are TOO EASY!! Let's just say, you'd have to try jolly hard to actually LOSE at them! Just for interest's sake, I'd suggest setting a personal Ring Collect record to beat. The music is very well done (if only the level playability matched it.) The music and the end of level bosses are the best bits - but then I love to kick Robotnik! All in all, this is a passable game for a rainy day when you feel like some fun. Update: Believe me, Sonic Heroes knocks this game into a cocked hat.

Don't be fooled by the low price, this is a poor product. Graphics are pixellated, controls unresponsive, and little time has been spent converting it to a PC product. Don't bother.

I intially bought this game expecting an improved version of the great sonic the hedgehog. I have only played this game twice and even then I feel I have wasted my time.
Compared to the Orignal Sonic this is very poor. It no longer has the side-on view but its harder to control and there is no point to the storyline. The graphics are crap with blurred gameplay and only like 2 pixels to fill the screen. Sound is ok but that doesn't make a difference to the game. I then tried to sell it on amazon but decided it wasn't worth it - 1p just demonstrates how everyone will take anything for it. If you want a better Sonic game don't go for this. To me it was a stepbackwards buying this
