It's such a shame that Deborah has not had the success in the UK as her counterparts Whitney and Mariah. She has a much better voice than the forementioned and knows how to use it without all the screaching and wailing.
To the album. Well, it's her 3rd album and her best to date. Her first two albums all had weak spots (not to say that they too weren't great albums) where as 3 years in the making seems to have paid of for this exceptional album.
It has something for everyone. Great ballads, Cool R'n'B and Deborah's trademark dance remixes tagged on the end for good measure.
There are lots of standout tracks on the album. However The Morning After, Mr.Lonely and Starting With You are fantastic original songs.
I would recommend this album to anyone who loves a great voice with good material thats show how good the vocalist is.
Buy it....you wont be disappointed!

So If you haven't heard of Deborah Cox, where have you been. This woman has a voice like an angel and yet she still hasn't the commercial success like Ashanti or Ciara who's talents are good but are on the commercial r'n'b/Hip-Hop band wagon. However Deborah Cox should be in that field not because she's decided to jump on the band wagon but because she deserves to be there and this album proves it!
The Morning After starts where the One Wish album left off and once again Ms Cox explores themes relevant to everyday life from the first time of meetin a guy and falling in love on tracks 'Oh My Gosh' to resolving issues 'Up and Down'(remix included)'The Morning After'to in depth issues of domestic violence of a best friend in raising self-esteem'Starting With You'plus my favourite song on the album that enpowers strength after a lover leaves on 'Like I Did'and believe me you won't help but dance and feel the track thank-you Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins who co-wrote/produced the track!
In all this album is one that explores every emotion and one that we can all relate too, and believe me after playing it at night I was defiently talking and thinking about it "The Morning After".
Well Done Deborah..........

Thank U.. for keeping real rnb fans sane these past years.
Her voice is "oh my gosh.." too sweet and smooth, up and down till show ya'll that, the jadakiss remix got some airplay.. but deserved way more..
She always deserves more tho. All her songs in my view, could be number ones, the beats, lyrics and vocals are always spot on.. and shes not even all typical, heartbreak/love songs, she always caters for parties producing get-up-outa-ya-seat an dance tunes (mr.lonely)
over-all one of the best albums u'll hear this year

Ms. Deborah's new cd. 7 Nov. 2002
By K. Eisenberger - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is the third release from Canadian R&B songstress Deborah Cox and it is her best yet. It is a mixture of jeep tunes,3 ballads and 2 house tracks. The best track on the cd is the ballad "Hurt So Much" which is very much like "Unbreak My Heart" by Toni Braxton. The rest runs toward current R&B trends with the best tracks being the first single "Up & Down(In & Out)", "Oh My Gosh", "Giving It Up" ,"Play Your Part" and "2 Good 2 Be True". The dance tracks are the latest club track and I think Ms. Cox's first from scratch house track "Mr. Lonely" and a single edit of the huge club hit "Absolutely Not".BUT there is a special limited edition cd out that was not from here(Amazon.com) but from another retail store that I actually own. It features a second disc of remixes of "Mr. Lonely" and "Up & Down(In & Out)" . This cd features FULL 12" MIXES !! The mixes are by Hex Hector & Mac Quayle(10:07),Junior Vasquez(10:42) and Widelife(11:21) of "Mr. Lonely" and the mixes by Godson(4:41) and Hector & Quayle(6:31) of "Up & Down (In & Out)". Amazon .com doesn't sell this version so be on the look out if you really want those rare mixes!

Welcome back, Deborah 11 Nov. 2002
By dan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
R&B diva Deborah Cox returns with her long-awaited 3rd set, The Morning After. It's good to have her back. The album is a mix of uptempo R&B, signature soulful ballads and dance tracks. The highlights:
Up & Down (Original & Remix) Nice laid back party jam -that unfortunately has not received much support from US radio.
Play Your Part-excellent R&B ballad with wonderful vocals-should definitly be a single.
Hurt So Much- Tear-jerker ballad, with standout vocals-another strong contender for a single.
The Morning After- another great ballad that is rumored to be the 2nd single.
Oh My Gosh-sexy up tempo R&B cut that is fun to dance to.
Starting With You-another awesome ballad and showcase for Deb's amazing voice.
Mr. Lonely- current club smash-show's why Deb is queen of the dancefloor.
Absolutely Not-Deb's #1 Club smash from Dr. Dolittle 2.
The rest of the tracks aren't horrible, just not as amazing as the ones I've mentioned. Overall, it's a great CD that may finally grant Deborah the mainstream crossover success that has so far eluded her.

The morning after........waiting for the next cd......Tight! 12 Nov. 2002
By I.B. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This new one from Deborah Cox brings her to yet another Lp full of new sounds and beats. This time around she has a lto mroe upbeat songs and less ballads. Some people seem to think that this dosent work for her but I think it works real good. As a artist it shows she is growing by doing something different. Now unto the tracks......whats good?
Up and Down(Easily the best song on this album...for this song alone the album is worth it. Tight use of the james brown sample), 2 good to be true, Play your part(back to ballad form on this one ...has a operatic sound to it), Like I did (Rodney J. hooked her up with a tight funky beat), Hurt So Much, Just dance, The Mornign After(One of the best ballads here), Up and Down(remix), and Mr. Lonley.
Overall I think she came real strong for her third Lp and gave something new all around. There is something for everybody on this and fans and non-fans should check this out. After a few listens you will be playing this from now til the morning after.

Super talented......but 15 May 2003
By imchael johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Let me start by saying that I love Deborah's voice but find it hard to agree with her choice of songs. This cd is typical of what's wrong with R & B music today. It appears that singers with voices as beautiful her's spend too much time attempting to sound like the "flavor of the week" and fail to concentrate on finding material that will connect with mature audiences. Having said all that.....the selection of songs here are juvenile and unworthy of such a talent. If looking for great material and vocals ....check out Heather Headley or Vivian Green.
