First of all, to sort out the confusion which amazon's description has created, this is the British Nirvana, nothing to do with Kurt Cobain's band. This is the first of their albums I ever bought, back in the mid-70s, and it introduced me to their classics "Rainbow Chaser" and "Pentecost Hotel".
What I didn't realise until later was that this was actually only half of the original Nirvana: Irish singer-songwriter Patrick Campbell Lyons without his Greek friend and keyboardist Alex Spyropoulos. But he has some great musicians supporting him here: Herbie Flowers on bass and Jade Warrior on some of the tracks. Songs of Love and Praise is soft rock, definitely of its time, but still very listenable today: gentle and mellow and subtly psychedelic.
But this CD is at a silly price -- especially considering that seven of the nine tracks can be found as bonus tracks on the CD of "Me and My Friend". The two that are missing are "Rainbow Chaser" and "Pentecost Hotel", which are both widely available elsewhere.
