Not having heard of PP 'fist time round', I had the pleasure to meet her when I moved to Spain c2000. I soon became a fan of this vibrant, enigmatic and gutsy woman. Her autobiography (Far Too Dainty) will give you the roller coaster of her earlier years.
Back to this book...
It is a collection of her own work, works she has re-written and others.
Over 70 songs with words, music and guitar chords.
A 'proper' songbook.
The women of these songs are truly Liberated.
I highly recommend you get a CD too of her album of the same name.
One of my favourites continues to be the raunchy, back room smoke filled bars of
'Hottentot Blade'
'The Persian Kitten'also strikes a chord.
But everything is relative and you will just love all when you get your hands on this gem of a songbook!
PS Polly was also a soap star in Elderado, being on screen the fiesty character she is in real life. As well as 'Juke Box Jury', Theater star (Blood Brothers), etc.
