5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, authentic French nursery rhymes 12 Jan 2008
Format:Audio CD
This CD is a re-release of a 50s record and has been really well re-mastered. lots of authentic French nursery rhymes and a few that you will recognise like the FRench version of 'Old macdonald' and 'who's afraid of the big bad wolf?' The tunes are catchy and you pick up more words each time you listen. It shouldn't be too hard to google the song titles so that you have the words for each nursery rhyme. There will be websites that provide an English translation of the best-known songs too, which is always helpful. I also got the 'FREnch playground' CD on the recommendation of the other reviewer, and whilst I like the tunes which are authentic and culturally diverse (France, Quebec, Maroc etc.)and the words and a translation of each song are provided, which is very helpful, FRench pLayground is definitely a misnommer. French cultural playground would be more accurate as the songs are more folky than nursery rhymes and more for adults than children. I can't imagine any FRench kids singing them in school, whereas they will definitely have learnt lots of the nursery rhymes onthe 'Songs in FRench for children.' This is the one to buy if you want something reasonably simple that you will benefit from more with each listen, and your kids will definitely be singing along soon. It does help if you have some knowledge of FRench yourself, so you can explain the songs to your kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful French Songs 26 April 2008
Format:Audio CD
A great buy for anyone who wants to introduce French to children, and also for anyone who loves traditional, heart-warming French songs.

Only disappointment is that the songs don't come with words. I was intending to teach some of the songs at school so will have to find the lyrics online in order to do this now. Otherwise highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical 1950`s French music for kids 30 Oct 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is s really lovely little French CD, the songs are in the style of 1950's Disney film scores, they are fun and charming. Much better to listen to these types of CD to absorb some French than spend hundreds on Muzzy. Of course it is great to learn all that too, but to begin with, just playing french music and singing along has to be one of the best ways to learn French. I would also highly recommend Putumayo 'French Playground' CD - more contemporary than this album but equally charming, fun and irresistably catchy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly traditional and well produced 25 Sep 2010
By Ada0674
Format:Audio CD
French is my native language and I can therefore truly recommend this CD: it is mostly composed of traditional songs, although some of them represent an original choice (La Cane de Jeanne, Une fourmie...). The arrangements are excellent and original, the voices are really pleasant. It is excellent value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs for French for Children 6 Jun 2010
Format:Audio CD
I found this CD very inexpensive with many very good songs for children to learn and sing along to. I am a French teacher and I used this CD in my class to help with the French lessons. The children love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real hit with my 3 year old 11 Dec 2009
By Kate
Format:Audio CD
My little boy (nearly 3) absolutely loves this CD he is always asking me "to put the French Songs on" neither of us understand many of the words yet, but the pronunciation is very clear and the tunes very catchy so great for learning how to pronounce words as we learn them...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely lovely CD! 19 Dec 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Having a baby soon and as my husband is french I wanted to play french nursery rhymes to her so she can be raised bilingual. We searched for ages to find a CD that didn't have awful, patronising, horrible singers and this CD compilation is an absoulute joy. Quirky cute and fun its 1950's spirit brings a smile to the face of the most grumpy adult!

3.0 out of 5 stars Songs in French for Children 31 May 2011
By Tracy
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Overall this CD is good, but from my point of view (not being able to speak much French) it would be nice to have the words printed in the cover so we could try to learn them. I was hoping there'd be some well-known songs that I would recognise, so would at least have some idea of what they were singing, but unfortunately this was not the case. That said, purely from a listening point of view, my 4 year old does enjoy listening to it, as the songs are quite catchy, even though we do not know what they're singing about!

3.0 out of 5 stars My idea
Trying to help the kids with French. Songs seem fine I just can't get the kids to be as enthusiastic as I am.perhaps more familiar songs and accompanying words would help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully re-mastered and worth every penny
Our 1-year-old loves dancing to the beautifully re-mastered nursery rhymes on this CD. A good and playful way to introduce a second language at a young age, would highly recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars songs are too old
I wouldn't recommend this. The songs are really old and I wish there was a list of songs availlable prior to purchase. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not loud enough!
The songs are great, being French myself it reminds me of my childhood but it is just not loud enough. The quality of the tracks is not good. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Painful
Very old fashioned singing/music. I found it painful to listen too, and I can listen to most things. It does sounds like it was recorded in the 1940s/50s
