This book, as with the earlier 3 volumes, is invaluable for worship. It covers a wide spectrum of songs by established, as well as fresh, writers, giving access to 'the dots' and the chords and, by using the enclosed CD rom, the overheads for church use also. Also by using the lists at the back, can you find appropriate songs for your needs, or ones inspired by individual Bible references. It is an ideal reference tool for any worship leader that wants to be relevant in today's church.

So the problems that really started with SOF3 Music Edition seem to have got worse with this book. The problem being that, of the 500 or so songs in the book, 200 of them are over two pages long meaning that you have to flip pages half way through the song. This is quite tricky when you're the only one leading worship with a guitar. I understand that modern songwriters are writing songs with extra bridges and choruses and different endings etc, but when two fifths of the songs in this book are made even more difficult to play because of the decision to place things on different pages it doesn't really encourage me to play them. But let's say I had my own personal page turner, would this solve the problem? Unfortunately, no because of the weird decision in SOF books to put the music on one page, and the words on a completely separate page. Just one example, number 1701, the first verse and music are on the same page, but in order to sing the second verse you have to flick over the page at which point you no longer have the music in front of you, just the words. Not really a problem if you can remember the chords, but still annoying especially if you're trying to learn a song. So although it has a good song choice this book is let down by the way it is laid out

I have all four books and this is one of my favourite books out of the four. It has quite a lot of the newer worship music by Artists such as Tim Hughes and Hillsongs etc. It was worth investing in especially if your church use it and you are musical and play instruments. One not so good thing is some of the music is not structured in a way that is easy to follow. Some other music sheets sometimes have better arrangements but it has hundreds of praise and worship songs contained here so I think it's good. It was also good price here, which was an added bonus.

I bought this for my wife. She already had the first three in the series so we knew what to expect, as regards style and layout etc. Pages possibly a bit small for reading at a distance when playing up on the stage. Very useful that the words are on the CD inside the back cover so you can copy and paste to use for projection with software such as Zionworx, as used at our church. Would be even better if the music was on the CD for printing out too, as these books are heavy to carry around and for balancing on a music stand. If you could just print out a copy of the music needed for a service that would be much better and the books would last longer as they tend to get dropped and handled roughly quite regularly. Tempted to buy the cd that does have the music on it for this purpose but that doesn't have all the songs, so would not fully solve the problem. Much cheaper buying the book from Amazon than from elsewhere. Not always the case though so you do still need to shop around.

Fabulous music book. Great to play music for church singing. Some very challenging piano playing for the pianist, which is all to the good, for me anyway!!! Best gift in the world for me. I would recommend all volumes for playing. Some pianists have trouble stopping the pages from fanning out whilst they are playing. Use smallish smooth Bulldog clips to hold pages back.Another option is make a 1/4 to 1/2 ins elastic strap/band to put over music ledge and open book, before starting to play. Hope this info helps.
Thanks
Beryl

Another really good mix of songs, some already well used and in circulation with plenty more still to learn. Good to see some"children's"songs in the mix.
