This a pleasant CD to listen to, consisting of some very well known and other not so well known Aussie folk songs. I guess, anyone buying this CD will kind of know what they're letting themselves in for, as it's pretty obvious that Bush Songs From The Australian Outback aint going to be the cutting edge of modern pop music. It's the kind of thing you could play to your granny. Many of the songs have humourous lyrics and for someone who wanted to experience a piece of colonial Australian culture, I was well pleased. These tunes would be great to hear played in a pub by a band or sat round a campfire at night for a good old sing-a-long, as I'm sure many of them were.

I agree pretty much with the previous assessment. Don't take the music too seriously - it's pretty much in the Rolf Harris category. I like the humour and light heartedness of Aussie BBQ and Home Among the Gumtrees. I also prefer this version of I Still Call Australia Home to that of Peter Allen's (although the Australian Girl's Choir version used in the QANTAS adverts is also very good). Why not branch out and also try some contemporary Aboriginal music such as the Rough Guide CD?

Purchased this after a memorable trip to Oz and the coach driver playing us very similar CD on one of the journeys.

I return to this every so often to listen to it again and each time it is fresh. Have now downloaded it on to my IPod so I can listen whilst travelling.

Purchased this cd to use for an OZ themed party. Just the thing I needed. I think some of my guests will know a few of them to sing along to (sad ain't we). Themed parties are fun and seeing I went to OZ this year, seemed a good idea. Just the right music.

Mrs Daz and I have long been fans of Kate Bush. We purchased this album under the impression that it was a greatest hits compilation. Imagine our disappointment when we opened a celebratory bottle of Barretines and settled back to listen to, and perhaps even sing along with, Wuthering Heights and all the other fine vocal offerings of the doctor's daughter only to have our ears abused by a somewhat scatological selection of antipodean convict songs.
