Product Description

CD Description

Adam & Joe s Song Wars Volume 2 is a 22 track collection of comedy songs written and performed by Adam Buxton & Joe Cornish. The songs were originally written for a feature called Song Wars, broadcast weekly on their Saturday morning BBC 6 Music show. Their show pulls in the highest number of listeners on the 6 music station. For the feature, listeners vote for the best of two tracks the written around the same subject. In this album we present the best of those songs.

About the Artist

Adam and Joe have presented their award winning Saturday morning BBC 6 Music show since 2007 (Gold Sony Comedy Award 2010, 3 Silver Sony Awards in 2009). The pair have been on hiatas while Joe finishes filming his directorial feature fill debut Attack The Block, but will return to 6 Music in December timed perfectly with the release of the record. Together they hosted The Adam and Joe Show on Channel 4 from 1996 - 2001. They won the Royal Television Society Best Newcomers Award in 1998, published The Adam and Joe Book in 1999, and presented BBC Three's coverage of the Glastonbury Festival in 2000 and 2002. In 2003, Buxton and Cornish presented Adam and Joe Go Tokyo, a Tokyo-based magazine show covering Japanese pop culture for BBC Three and BBC One. The same year they began hosting a show on UK radio station Xfm, filling in for Ricky Gervais on Saturday afternoons. When Gervais left the station they took over permanently, and continued to present the Saturday morning show, until Summer 2006 when they made the move the BBC 6 music Saturday morning slot

I like to listen to Adam and Joe, but I listen to the podcast not the live show. And now I listen to the CD too. As always they deal with important societal issues like binge drinking (Bums and Binge Drinking), negative body image (Bums and Binge Drinking), and Kate Nash (Bums and Binge Drinking), as well as occasional light relief. Yeah, it's an OK, CD. Good for listening to and stuff. Love you, bye.

This is good 16 Feb 2011
Format:Audio CD
... but which one is the best? It's a close run thing as Joe is often extremely funny, e.g. Antiques Roadshow: "The sun is bright, the crowd's polite, and mostly white, but that's alright." And his Grazia and Dr Sexy are LOLfunny as well.

Adam combines funniness with song construction that produces works of art so catchy that you'll be sick of the tunes going round in your head... sick in a good way, I mean. Anyway I believe young people use "sick" to mean "good" these days. But that's by the by. Adam's Festival Song is impossible to stop singing to yourself, "Load up the four... by four..." and it has satire in it like "the advert stage" and Moby being on again. Birthday Time is similarly brilliant, with its eerily accurate "Brian Wilson song therapy" feel. As I think of it, the line "and later you will throw it in the bin" is making me laugh right now - and I'm going through a painful bereavement! And then there's his masterpiece, Bums & Binge Drinking. It has to be heard to be believed. If the media has ever made your bum feel fat, you'll identify with it loads.

Excellent CD! 5 Jan 2011
Format:Audio CD
This is a collection of Adam and Joe's songs from their Song Wars section of their BBC 6 Music Radio show. Each week the pair would create a song based around a given subject, e.g. James Bond.

All of these songs are excellent from start to finish!! They will have you in stitches!
