Biography

Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Stevie Wonder moved to Detroit at an early age and has become one of that city's most famous sons. Blind from birth, Stevie has never allowed that to be an obstacle or handicap. His normal childhood activities of playing games and climbing trees with his friends were suddenly set on a different path when his amazing musical talents were spotted by Bonnie White ... Thirty or so of Stevie Wonder's biggest hits--many of them enduring classics--make up Song Review. That's the good news. The bad news is that they're sequenced here about as well (or maybe not) as your CD player's "random" function might do it. Leading off with "Part-Time Lover"--a major chart record, no doubt, but hardly the rouser you'd expect for an opener--is puzzling enough. It's when the programming starts veering from highlights of his self-produced period ("Sir Duke") to Motown assembly-line pieces ("My Cherie Amour") that the head-scratching really begins. And don't try to count the great moments that are missing. This will do in a pinch, but if you own no Stevie, be advised that better overviews of Wonder's career (the finest by far being the four-CD box At the Close of a Century) are available.--Rickey Wright

This album shows music fans everywhere the inimitable style and variety which can only be categorised under wonder,Stevie. from the up tempo stylings of part time lover to the tear jerking sadness of Lately , Stevie shows why he is one of the most respected singer/songwriters in history. this is an album that can be listened to at any time ,anywhere by anyone and is proved by the fact that the likes of Oasis , Artful dodger and even S-Club 7 have covered songs from this cd. My peronal favourite is superstition in which stevie plays every single instrument but just listen to how long he holds the last note on redemption song!!! WONDERful.

I've listened to this cd so many times over and over now and every time i listen i like it more! Especially track 19 'for your love', i think this is one of the best on here, it brings such a big smile to my face when i hear it, and consequently makes my day and of course my all time fave 'i just called to say i love you'

Singer - Songwriter 'Stevie Wonder' born 'Stevland Hardaway Morris' in 'Saginaw' - 'Michigan' 'U.S' in May 1950,
one of the worlds true 'Super-Stars who's chart-success was indeed both sides of the 'Atlantic'
Many of his hits surely among most every music-fans favourite's list, this album contains many of his best remembered
U.K Chart Successes, strangely he only had the two number ones here in the U.K the first of which was his duet with
'Paul McCartney' back in 1982 'Ebony and Ivory' the second, everybody's favourite at the time 'I Just Called To Say I
Love You' back in 1984.
Among his other U.K Chart Hits to be found on-board - 'I Was Made To Love Her' (Chart '5' 1967) 'For Once In My Life'
(Chart '3' 1968) 'My Cherie Amour' (Chart '4' 1969) 'Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday' (Chart '2' 1969) 'You Are The
Sunshine Of My Life' (Chart '7' 1973) 'Sir Duke' (Chart '2' 1977) 'Master Blaster' (Jammin') (Chart '1980) 'Lately' (Chart
'3' 1981) and the same year 'Happy Birthday' (Chart '2') 'Part Time Lover' (Chart '3' 1985) and 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered,
I'm Yours' (Chart '11' 2003) along of course with the two number '1's' are among the tracks to be found upon this 21-Song
cellabration of 'Stevie Wonders' music, many true classic's included among the play-list.
Blind more or less from birth, 'Stevie Wonder' had great vision in his song-writing..........He still performs today.

This greatest hits collection by Stevie Wonder, was one i purchased in my local Woolworths in Kirkcaldy, a couple of years ago.

However, do be wary if you decide to buy this. Many songs by Stevie Wonder may be acknowledged: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm yours"; "You're the sunshine of my life", "He's misstra know-it-all", but as far as i'm concerned, this collection is devoid of something. This includes: virtually no trace of his work on "Fulfillingless' First Finale, all of which are sadly absent; a lot of songs including the likes of: "I ain't gonna stand for it", "He hasn't done nothin'", "Superwoman", "All in life is fair" and "Love's in need in love today" are not here, but should be; probably the worst trasverty of them all are "Isn't she lovely" and "Living in the city" being the cut versions, obmitting the role-play scene and the entire second part in the latter and the baby noises in the former.

Overall, this could all be done to the fact, Wonder has done so much verstalise material in his long career, let alone, a running streak of classic albums from 1972 to 1976, may prompt only a rough and general selection to be included. If you are new to Wonder, i would suggest avoiding this and buying one of his classic works, like: Innversions, Talking Book, Fulfillingless' First Finale or best of all, Songs in the key of life. If you must insist on a greatest hits package, then probably would be a better bet than Stevie Wonder: The Ultimate Collection.

Stevie Wonder ~ Song Review is rightly billed as "A Greatest Hits Collection." This is by no means THE Stevie Wonder Greatest Hits Collection, although there are certainly many of Stevie's truly classic recordings included here. This two-CD collection really serves as a retrospective on the first 35 years of Stevie's career, and I think it serves its intended purpose very well by making room for some of Stevie's less familiar yet brilliant recordings, although the absence of such great tracks as Fingertips Part 2, For Once in My Life, and Isn't She Lovely is noticeable. I consider myself a big Wonder fan, and there are songs here I had never heard before. When you look at all of Stevie's biggest hits, the ballads are somewhat overshadowed by the funky, toe-tapping, energetic tracks, and this collection restores some of the balance, touching on all of the many facets of Wonder's musical genius.
The one aspect of this collection I would question is the arrangement of the 31 songs, as there is hardly any consistency to it, and this gives birth to some odd transitions. No matter what order the songs are played, though, you will not find anything less than a five-star song in this bunch (even though Hey Love is one of the few Stevie songs I really don't care for). You get early Stevie frenetic classics such as I Was Made to Love Her, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours, and Uptight; funkadelic standouts such as Superstition, Master Blaster (Jammin'), Living For the City, That Girl, and Boogie on Reggae Woman; and unforgettable ballads such as I Just Called to Say I Love You, My Cherie Amour, Ribbon in the Sky, You Are the Sunshine of My Life, and Send One Your Love.
