4.0 out of 5 stars ...easy to listen to, without being easly listening..., 7 Jul 2008

Those of you who pay attention to that sort of thing, will already have heard Oh Laura, as one of their songs, "Release Me" was used to soundtrack an advertisement for SAAB cars. Well, they are Swedish.

So it won't surprise you to learn that the Stockholm based band are toddling along quite happily in that slightly fey, melodic indie pop manner, that so many of their country folk pursue. And they're very good at, helped by the particularly haunting voice of Frida Ohrn.

Some of you may balk at the notion of more Viking invaders purveying their horned brand of melodic pop. Especially when even the likes of Evil Terry Wogan and Whispering Bob Harris have taken to heart. But, rest assured, it's worth paying Oh Laura a visit.

An album that's chock full of pleasant surprises, songs like 'A Call To Arms' and 'Raining In New York' manage to pull off the trick off being easy to listen to, without being easly listening. A name to remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars A debut album to savour, 24 Feb 2008
Like many, I first heard Oh Laura's 'Release Me' on a Saab advert and then again on Radio 2 after New Year. Quite frankly I couldn't wait for the UK release and downloaded the album from their label's website, and what an album. The music is fantastically smooth and laid back without being boring or bland and, teamed with Frida Ohrn's vocals, the whole album flows beautifully. It's one of few albums I own where I listen to all the tracks uniformly. Even the cover 'Killer on the Road' has lots to offer. If you want a bit of reassurance, try searching for 'Lucky Tonight Strings' - it was released a few months ago as a free download by their label, it's not on this album but is more of the same quality or Google "BBC Saturday Sessions," you can find Oh Laura on the first hit. The album is well worth your time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant debut album!, 6 Jul 2009
It is hard to believe that is just Oh Laura's first LP. The band delivered a beautiful album. Frida Ohrn's husky voice is mesmerizing.I was also really impressed by the quality of the music and lyrics. Every song creates its own little atmosphere. My favourite track would be "A Call To Arms". I hope this band will get more recognition because they really deserve it!
