Deniece first made an impression as part of Stevie Wonder's
back-up trio WONDERLOVE in the early seventies.
In 1976 she released her debut album This Is Niecy which
featured the mega-hit FREE which topped the UK chart.
SONG BIRD was her sophomore set, released on Columbia in
1977. The album was again produced by Earth, Wind & Fire's
Maurice White. The album was released on CD in a very
limited run in the nineties. Copies of this issue fetch
hundreds on dollars on eBay.
Featured are the hit single BABY BABY MY LOVE'S ALL FOR
YOU, Deniece's inspirational GOD IS AMAZING and the UK
Soul underground favourite THE BOY I LEFT BEHIND
This newly remastered edition features extensive liner
notes, an interview with Deniece and a bonus track
promotional single version.

Atlast Deniece's 2nd lp from 1977 is given a (wider)release.It's curious that it has been out of print(except to millionaires(see e-bay for how much japenese copies go for))for so long because in my view it's superior to the previous years 'This is Niecy'.It contains the UK hit 'Baby Baby My loves All For You,the back to church 'God is Amazing'and the haunting 'The Paper'amongst its 9 tracks,this reissue bolstered by the single edit of 'Baby Baby'.It is a joy to listen to from start to finish and Big Break deserve a medal for making this and many other great soul albums available again.THANKS.

"For years I have been desperately trying to acquire a cd copy of Denice Williams' classic "Song Bird". Unfortunately, there was only a Japanese pressing available and it was selling for upwards of $150. So, needless to say, when I had read Big Break Records was remastering and releasing Song Bird, I was rejoicing!
Now that I have it, I would like to thank BBR for doing an exceptional job on the remastering. Also, great thanks for including the bonus track (promotional single version of Baby, Baby My Love's All For You). I'm not sure why one reviewer trashed it. I've been playing it in the repeat mode and am thoroughly satisfied!
I'm hoping they won't stop with Song Bird...Bring on Niecy's other elusive CD.."I'm So Proud"!!!"...

This is Niecey was Deniece Williams' debut produced by Maurice White and Charles Stepney. After Stepney died, Williams and White followed it with this album in 1977. Despite not having huge hits like Free and That's What Friends Are For, the album is class from start to finish. Highlights include Baby Baby My Love's All For You, the Paper and The Boy I Left Behind. Get it now. Despite what the reviewer below says, I find the mastering to be excellent. The Japanese CD sounded flat.
