The artists give a sensitive and thoughtful performance of these works, which I enjoyed greatly. Both sonatas are served fully by committed performers. The Rachmaninov Vocalise can come in various guises, of which the one for orchestra and wordless solo voice is by far my favourite, but I can also enjoy the orchestra only version, and have been astonished by the power of a pianist alone (try to hear Kissin). Here the cello sings very persuasively.
I can only assume that the multi-channel tracks have been swapped at some stage, as the rear left speaker does most of the work in my system, and instead of the instruments appearing between the front speakers they spread across the left wall. If you listen only in stereo then this may not be a problem, but otherwise you may find the effect off-putting.
Otherwise, lovely music, nicely done.
