Product Description

Rebellious Nick Twisp of "Youth in Revolt" was a master at driving his parents to the brink. When he wasn’t burning down parts of Berkeley or springing girlfriends from homes for unwed mothers, he was dodging gendarmes in Paris. So what sort of parent would that most outrageous of teenagers make? In this new installment of the acclaimed Twisp saga, 40-something Nick faces the daily trials of dealing with his own teenage son. When a move to California threatens to disrupt young Scott Twisp’s life, he reacts in the true Twispian spirit. Follow this wannabe “wanton lothario” as he conspires to meet the challenges of girls, sex, work, parents, TV stardom, and more. Also returning to complicate matters are Sheeni, Trent, Apurva, Vijay, Jake, Veeva, Uma, and the rest of C.D. Payne’s huge and colorful cast. Enjoy all seven books in the monumental Twisp saga: over a half-million words of hilarious mayhem!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're reading this review, you should probably be reading this book 19 Feb 2012

Let's face it - if you're even considering reading this book, you've probably read the first 6 Twisp books. And if you've enjoyed the other Twisp books at all, you'll enjoy this one too.

As the title implies, this book follows the adventures of Scott Twisp, the son of Nick Twisp. The style is very familiar to the other books - it's a journal written by a teenager that's desperate to get with a beautiful girl. There are a few differences in the character of Scott than either Noell Wescott (aka Jake Twisp) or Nick Twisp. Mainly, Scott is a little bit more down to earth. Things don't get quite as drastically out of hand as they did with the previous protagonists. Somehow, though, C. D. Payne is able to keep this book as entertaining and hilarious as previous installments without being quite as outlandish.

Because this is the third protagonist in the Twisp series, there are A LOT of characters to keep straight. Pretty much any major character (and some minor characters) from the previous books makes an appearance. This didn't feel forced or awkward. It made me strain my memory to try to figure out who some of these people were, and in the end made me want to go back and read the earlier books again.

I really don't want to get into the plot at all - you know, because of spoilers and all. But if you enjoyed the other Twisp books, you'll definitely enjoy this one. If you haven't read the others, pick up "Youth in Revolt." It will only be a matter of time before you're picking up "Son of Youth in Revolt" also.
4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed it 10 April 2013

If you've read far enough in this series and you remember the characters from the other books then you absolutely should be reading this book. One complaint I had with the previous book, Revoltingly Young was that since we had a new protagonist we don't get the whole story on the other characters partly because he probably was not that interested in everybody's personal life. This book has another protagonist, but this time he is very interested in everybody's personal life, almost to the point where I wish the book would spend less time on the Soap Opera side of the story and get more into the main character practically destroying the planet to fulfill his misguided doomed to fail mission that his hormones are sending him on like in the first book.

But those complaints only knock off one star for me. If you have made it this far in the series and you are considering not reading the next book I ought to slap you silly.

Once again Mr Payne shows his talent for crafting a story that is at once filled with absurd situations and humor while overflowing with poignant truth. Whether a new comer to the series or a long time fan, don't hesitate to read this.
