Product Description

From the Author

Finding my father has made the jig-saw of my life complete!
I was forty years old when an aunt told me about my GI. soldier father. I felt like I had been hit with a sledge-hammer! I decided I would search for my father if it took the rest of my life to do it. My story will bring a tear to the hardest heart and hope to all those following in my footsteps!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so sure about this book, 14 Mar 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: Somewhere Out There: An English Woman's Search for Her GI Father (Paperback)
Having read the book, I feel like Norma has left a big chapter out of the book. Eg: What happened to the father that for 40 years whom she was brought up to believe was her real dad? Did he know the truth or not? How did HE react when told the news and that she was going to America to find her real dad? Why did the mum keep this secret from her daughter for all these years? Yes it makes you feel sad, but I just feel like Norma had something to prove at whatever costs and feeling to the people around her.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone trying to trace their GI father, 29 April 2001

This review is from: Somewhere Out There: An English Woman's Search for Her GI Father (Paperback)
Yesterday, Norma Jean's book arrived in the post and I read chapter 1 immediately. This morning, I was awake early, so thought I would read another chapter or two, before getting out of bed. Three hours later, I was still there (tears in my eyes) having just finished the whole 233pages! What I want to know is: What happened after page 233 and also what happened to Chapter 14 - The book goes from 13 to 15, but without a gap in page numbers or storyline!!! The book is an absolute must for anyone with the slightest doubt about setting out on their own trace for their father, or feeling downhearted about any seeming failures they are having along the route. (Makes my own search seem very insignificant and simple). Having read the final chapters about the re-union, I just can't wait for my own in the next month or so. Well done Norma, you battled against unbeleiveable odds to achieve your success and the assistance your book gives will hopefully make others searches easier.
