5.0 out of 5 stars Watching the Witness 1 April 2010

Seriously, how many ways can a quick spot of pampering go wrong? While getting her floors refurbished, Assistant US Attorney Cameron Lynde books into a five-star hotel for a severely expensive massage, a good night's sleep and a luxury breakfast in the morning. Except things don't go quite to plan. But if she thought her naughty noisy neighbours were bad, the dead body was worse. And to top it all off, the investigation's going to be led by the man who thinks she tried to ruin his career.

A week back in Chicago and FBI Agent Jack Pallas is face-to-face with the reason he's just spent three years in nowhere. Except this murder is not the welcome-back prank he suspected, and with Cameron the only witness to this potentially high-profile crime, he'll have to get over his bad feelings fast, before the murderer comes to call.

It's just that without all that dislike getting in the way, neither can help noticing that the other is looking mighty fine...

Julie James is a master at high-tension chemistry and humour, and when this pair aren't striking sparks off each other, things are laugh out loud fun. With another couple who can't stand the sight of each other (on the surface, at least), James is on familiar ground, especially with a sassy, intelligent and independent woman facing down her man. Cameron is more than a match for the brooding, dangerous Jack, especially since she has a better sense of humour.

Amidst all the tension - and building danger of the plot - there's an excellent supporting cast, not least best-friend Collin, Jack's work partner Wilkins, and Officers Phelps and Kanin, to help keep the humour flowing. Cute, hot and exciting, this tale romps along with daring and danger right alongside a surprisingly sweet romance. Is it really a year until her next book?

5.0 out of 5 stars What a hoot! 19 May 2010

WOW! What an unexpected and fabulous surprise. I have no idea why I purchased this book from this author but I am really glad that I did. Sitting on the Victoria line on the way to work I can only tell you that this book made my journey so pleasant - I did not want to get off the train.

Assistant US Attorney Cameron Lynde is a sharp, intelligent and 'take no prisoners' type of woman - who chooses to wait for her DIY work to dry in a luxury hotel. Cameron found out how wrong a bit of pampering can go. She ends up being the key witness in a murder investigation being led by her 'sworn enemy' FBI Jack Phallas who humiliated her three years ago on national TV - 'oops'. I wont spoil the story but it gets better...

This book is a real page-turner, with snappy dialogue between the main and secondary characters. Her best friends, his partner and dodgy suspects. I would highly recommend this book because the author wrote with real skill which was often very funny - I was really smiling when I finished the book - an excellent read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something about you.... 15 May 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Something About You - this book is a about Cameron and Jack; Cameron is the only witness to a murder when she treats herself to a night in a posh hotel while her floors get sanded. The investigating agent is sexy Jack. When they had last met Cameron had to let Jack down professionally and Jack nearly lost his career when he hit back un-professionally. Their budding attraction hit the skids and when they meet up again, because of the murder, the sparks fly.

I liked the characters and there are some funny lines. As plots go there was more substance than in many books of this ilk. I'd read other books by this author.
