5.0 out of 5 stars Macabre poems, 6 Sep 2007
By kehs (Hertfordshire, England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Twenty `Children's tales for disturbed children' told in poems. All wonderfully illustrated with macabre black and white drawings. Also, for some reason that I can't fathom, hidden in the illustrations are little pig cartoons that the author wants the reader to find. A quirky, fun little read for those with a slightly twisted sense of humour. If you like Struwwelpeter then this book will certainly amuse you too

5.0 out of 5 stars Might as well make a critter pie..., 20 Sep 2002
Forget sandman
Forget necronomicon
Forget Anne Rice

Roman Dirge does it again, with his macabre wit and his underlying illustrations.
It's packed with strokes of genious like "critter pie", "pearhead man" and of course "something at the window scratching"

If you liked lenore, if you liked sandman, you'll love this book. A must!

5.0 out of 5 stars More for the Dirge fan, 29 April 2008
This is a cool, dark and amusing collection of tales and poems from Roman Dirge, creator of Lenore. Featuring things like "Pear Head Man and Bread boy," " Critter Pie" and of course the title tale, "Something at the Window is Scratching." Which is a great take on the Sandman story. Oh, and don't forget "Peter the Pirate Squid." Heh Heh Heh! Also, try and find all the little piggies randomly hidden in the artwork! What fun!

Ideal if you loved Tim Burton's Oyster Boy or Serena Valentino or Vasquez offerings! Lovely! And this is disturbingly cute! Remember, a weird family makes a weird baby......
