Format: Audio CD
"The Ruts" achieved a modicum of success in the latter part of the original punk era, with their Top 20 hit "Babylon's Burning", and some storming life performances.... This compilation wisely concentrates on the early material of the band. In fact, it's basically the first album, "The Crack", plus their first single, "In a Rut", and a handful of other tracks. The music is what punk was meant to be all about; blistering songs such as "Criminal Mind" are perfectly juxtaposed by reggae influenced compositions such as "Jah War". The lyrics and music are passionate throughout, with a fairly political bent.
It would be easy to dismiss "The Ruts" as a poor man's "The Clash", but they came up with some fine songs of their own, and this collection is well worth buying.

"The Ruts" achieved a modicum of success in the latter part of the original punk era, with their Top 20 hit "Babylon's Burning", and some storming life performances. Unfortunately, any chance of lasting fame was prevented by the death of their lead singer. The remaining members struggled on under the new moniker "Ruts DC", before wisely calling it a day.

This album has it all.Fast and chunky early punk to slow melodic reggae.Malcom Owens vocals are raw and powerfull a distintive gravely sound while Paul Fox's catchy guitar riffs will keep you entertained throughout. You will like this CD if your into good quality rock music punk or metal heads etc. Go on buy it it's cheap enough .The Ruts were great.Shame about there early demise.

I purchased "something that I said" as a nostalgic reminder when I learned that Foxie had passed away. He was a close friend and I remember the Ruts forming and the anticipation of them cutting this album! It was great then and still holds that driveing energy, well done guys.
