5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet 27 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Short, yes, very. Predictable, probably. Enjoyable - very much so.

Quick coffee-break treat. The story, although short and predictable was delightful. Apart from one or two typos it was very well written. The author had put some thought into this heart-warming little story. The hidden message is that you are never too old to find love and sometimes you find it in the most unlikely of places.

For those disappointed by the length, I suggest they look up the product information before buying (in fact this is currently free); it clearly states there that the book is only 77 KB so there shouldn't be any surprises! I also felt that the comments about it being written by an illiterate very unfair.

I thoroughly enjoyed the novella and am looking forward to downloading (and reading) further books by Ted Stetson.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a let down 28 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This had the potential to be a lovely story, but to me it felt rushed, like the author had this idea for a story and couldn't wait to get it on paper and so missed out all the detail. Having said that, if all you're looking for is something to read in an afternoon with a cuppa then this'll do the job. If you want a read that you can get your teeth into, then this might not be for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars AN OLD FLAME 2 Sept. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Joanne is driving at night she gets a flat tyre, a truck pulls up she is a bit afraid it is late and dark, there is no one about. Then she looks at him, and realises she knows him, her old high school sweetheart. But he doesn't seem to recognise her. She follows him back to his garage after he does a temporary repair. Joanne is a widow now and it is near Christmas she hates being alone.
This is a really short story really short. But really sweet I wish it had been longer.

I saw the synopsis a while back, but forgot to download this, but when I did today, the synopis had been shortened to about 6 words. I did wonder why, then I found out.

This is barely even the length of a chapter of a novel/novella, and had the potential to be a sweet tale about a teen love rekindled by golden oldies who found themselves again.

Instead, he rescues her without recognising her, but she can't get him out of her mind, so she calls the gas station that his dad used to own and milks the person who answers for info on him. Said person is very happy to be a cow-wanting-milking and reveals all about his divorce, the circs, the result and where he is now, and so she drives there, reveals her name and asks him to he once did, and so there their second chance at romance starts...

Dialogue was a bit amateurish, but I would have ignored that aspect had the tale been drawn out a bit.

4.0 out of 5 stars A short love story 13 Nov. 2011
By Mole
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A car breaks down on the side of the road with a flat tyre. The woman is unable to fix it herself, and a passing mechanic stops to help her. She recognises the man as someone from her past, and... well you need to read the story to learn the rest.

This is a very short story, just a few pages long. It's a basic love story, but quite well written and with some very nicely structured passages.

Suitable for a short filler or something to get you started reading on your Kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Whatever happened to proof-reading? 10 Mar. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The opening is so badly written - poor grammar, commas in the wrong place, even a typographical error ('ut oh' instead 'uh oh') it does not encourage me to download, even if it is free. Two lessons for authors 1) don't publish first drafts, 2) get a ruthless swine to proof-read your efforts. One lesson for readers: anyone with a computer can publish an e-book so always read the sample before downloading, especially if you're paying for it.
