"Something Special" is by far THE BEST Dusty complilation EVER. In my opinion this 2cd set outshines the two Dusty boxed sets.
This is a cd I play regularly, it features Dusty singing some of her hits in French & Italian plus a never before released version of "Needle In A Haystack" which is brilliant and even has Dusty and the backing singers bursting into laughter at the end which is so good to hear as it was the studio "atmosphere".
There is a most beautiful Norma Tanega song "No Stranger Am I" which was the 'b' side to Dusty's huge hit "I Close My Eyes & Count to Ten, on "Stranger" Dusty's voice is so gentle and pure and it's simply "stunning"!
Two song's in particular which quickly became favourite's of mine was the (never before released) "Wasn't Born To Follow" by Goffin/King and "I've Got A Good Thing", on listening you will wonder why they took around 30 years to be released as they sound so fresh.
Dusty was never in a rut musically so you'll also find the up-tempo ravers "Baby Blue" (the 12" version) & "Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees".
Disc 2 features the "gentler" side of Dusty with some beautiful ballads like "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today", "If You Go Away" and the power-house performance on "Who Can I Turn To".
Mercury Records did us proud with this release and yes Dusty you are indeed "Something Special"
