Rachel is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend and, unhappily, still single -- as her engaged best friend Darcy is constantly reminding her. But, after one drink too many at her 30th birthday party, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in bed with the guy she's had a crush on since law school, Dex, who just happens to be Darcy's fiancé. When Rachel and Darcy's lifelong friendship collides with true love, it leads to unexpected complications and potentially explosive romantic revelations. Meanwhile, Ethan, who has been Rachel's constant confidante and sometimes conscience, has been harboring a secret of his own.

I enjoyed Something Borrowed. There are tear-jerking moments, comic moments and moments of incredulity, the basis for all rom-coms. However, what puzzled (and slightly annoyed) me about this moviewas that some of the things the characters did were simply immoral and would probably be deemed unforgive
able in the real world. In what world is it okay to take your best friends fiancee? I guess as the story goes on it becomes more acceptable as we learn of the reasonings behind each character and the secrets that they're witholding from each other. If you ignore the fact that there are serious issues of morality it is still a comical, but highly predictable, entertaining way to spend an hour and three quarters.

Some aspects of the story are very preditctable and you can see them coming before the opening credits are even on the screen, but there are other parts of the story that are unexpected and you have to wait until the end to find out how everybody's lives pan out. I guess in this way it keeps the viewer interesting and ensures they carry on watching. Whilst many new relationships are formed, many are also destroyed, and it bothers me that one that had been consistent through out did not really draw to a particularly happy close.

Despite its numerous faults I still thought that Something Borrowed did the rom-com genre proud and filled its role perfectly. For anyone desperate for proof that true love does exist, then I guess this is movie for you!

I loved this film. It was romantic and funny, especially the dance scene. It's no Oscar winner but a pleasant rom-com and Colin Egglesfield is quite pleasant to look at too!

I bought this film because I found out that John Krasinski was in it. So, was it worth it? Kinda. Sorta. It's just another rom com but I like rom coms. And I always enjoy Kate Hudson, who is becoming more and more like her mom with every film she makes. Aldo good here is Ginnifer Goodwin an actress I'm less familiar with but she is just as good as Kate. Filling out the lead foursome we have an actor that I have never heard of before. Colin Egglesfield is extremely handsome and a more than capable actor. I was also pleased to see Ashley Williams from HIMYM and here she does some nice work. Finally as Marcus we have an actor by the name of Steve Howey who I've also never heard of before. He is a funny guy and not bad an actor too. There's an extremely brief screen shot of Wild Things, where Matt, Neve and Denise are getting together and there's also THAT scene from Fatal Attraction. HOH/SDH subtitles supplied.

wanted to see this film when it was first shown but never got the chance. i took a chance and bought it knowing the chances were id like it and i can honestly say it was worth it. enjoyed it from start to finish and it's a film i know i will watch again am now going to read the books! i know some people will have different opinions about the affair element but it isnt done in a way that makes you think its malicious or that they are enjoying the fact that its going to hurt people. ITS COMPLICATED also got mixed reviews about that aspect but i think that was also a good film. i would recommend this film to a friend i think its worth seeing plus colin egglesfield i really fit just an added bonus! hope they make the sequel

Because I watch chick flicks, does it mean I have to have arrested development? I switched this off after 10 minutes, but decided to give it another chance (having paid for it!). I'm glad I did, so I can tell you about it. Once I got over the betrayal bit, I got a bit peeved at how poorly the characters were drawn without any nuances. Talk about unsubtle! Let's see: there is a GOOD and there is an EVIL girl. There is male hero, torn between what he wants and duty. There is the loser friend, who loves and loses. The whole film is let down by the simplistically drawn characters that are the protagonists.

This could have been really something. However, poor Kate Hudson, the evil blonde, got to do her funny bit from "How to lose a guy in 10 days" all over again, except it was serious. You do wonder how the male lead ever fell in love with her, and how our sweet, dark and good heroine has been been a doormat all her life to her supposed Best Friend. How much better it could have been to have a more realistic friendship, which would really have cranked up the angst of the betrayal. I suppose with that in mind, it's hard to feel sorry for anyone in this film, except the poor pining friend who's the only one with an IQ. Not even a laugh to be had...Sorry, it was just so so. There is a redeeming bit at the end, where Kate Hudson is allowed a bit of emotion. Might watch the sequel just to check it was that bad...;-)
Would recommend for early teens to keep a sleepover quiet..

How can a supposedly intelligent woman leave home in just a dress with no bag and nowhere to put her door key? I wish directors would think of practical things as will as the storyline. Otherwise the whole thing loses it's magic for me.
