Recording this album has given the Pavãos a chance to explore a special musical era. They started playing these arrangements as encores at their recitals, but very soon realised they deserved a stage of their own.

The album is very, very skilful, uplifting, moving, fun . The performers are to be admired for such technical brilliance coupled with real passion and flair.

I first heard the brilliant arrangements featured on this CD 2 years ago in one of the many Pavaos' recitals and since then I have been impatient to see this CD out in the shops.
This CD has a collection of very intelligently arranged songs and technically extremely demanding but the Pavaos play them with fantastic virtuosity.
They bring a beautiful and fresh approach of the "Old Hollywood" songs we all love so much. I had never heard them before in a string quartet context and I think that, because of the skill with which they have been arranged and the beautiful playing, their qualities have been enhanced.
Definitely worth buying!

I was given this cd as a present and am now can say I'm not only a new fan of the wonderful Pavao String Quartet, but also of Martelli who created these genius arrangements of Great American Song Book classics. The quartet capture the sparkle and vibrance of this musical era with virtuosic ease and the cd cannot fail to delight all who listen to it!
